7afe engine swapped so slow - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #87227 7 posts Started by huntsmcgee
HI, so i just got my engine for my car and its been years since i had it running and it just seems so slow. i know the 0-60 for a st auto is like 9-10 secs but i think it would take like over 15 i check my timing using a light and it matched 10* could it be 180 off it it alings with the markings and if not what could be making it so slow
Restriction in the intake somewhere, check the air filter piping and the filter itself. Exhaust leaks meaning lack of backpressure, vacuum leaks, faulty plugs, wiring, or fuel injectors...the list goes on.

i hate myself for saying this, but its a 7a, cant expect much.
Check if you're knock sensor is working. If it isn't, your ECU is retarding timing about 10-15 deg and the car will feel super sluggish.

Thanks for the replays. i should have gave more info. The car has a ebay header had it for years and before the swap. it has a k@n intake filter and pipe brand new. also has new spark plugs. It has a code thrown that says egr malfunction but maybe its the header. And how do i check if the sensor is workin
engine is probably in limp mode due to the engine throwing a code.
