Long story but ended up at used car dealership and they had an mr2 in the back, dealership owner said to make am offer.

Details as far as I know:
Mkii Mr2 sw21
2nd gen 3sgte swap
204000 miles on the OD
Has wing in car, uninstalled
Rattle canned matter black
Hks bov
Turbosmart boost controller
Turbo timer
Affermarket gauges
After market front bumper
Konig wheels
Perfect interior! Only needs shift boot and ac vent

Bad: needs clutch work
Needs body/paint work
Unknown engine history, no swap info.

The dealership owner said he rode in it and it was nice and fast but then again it is a dealership....

What would you offer??

I'll post pics later, just want a ballpark estimate.

$50.00

15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
I'd offer $2,000 for it, just based on what you've posted. God knows the dealer doesn't have hardly anything in it. Plus you can always go up on offers, can't go down.

Edit: lagos brings up a good point. Now that I think about it, I probably wouldn't even bother. Do an engine swap, then rattle can it? Makes you wonder about the quality of the swap. Hell, go find a base MR2 with a bad engine and drop in a 1MZ-FE, and upgrade to the Turbo brakes etc...

Honestly, they might consider the 2000 if that cars has more than 200,000 miles. i was thinking more along the lines of 3k, but personally "ID NEVER BUY A CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP,. i bought my 07 corolla with 65,000 miles for 8,000 with a 2,000 trade in with 1,000 down and i still owe $13500 altogether. Then last week i bought a 2004 toyota corolla s for $2300 with 107,000. stay away from the dealership.
I dont think its the same as a normal used car type deal. It was stored in the back not displayed. The owner of the dealership is a pretty cool guy. He said that the mr2 will probably sit for a couple months before he fixes anything, since he's got a bunch of other car higher on his priority list.
I believe it was part of a trade in, so he might let I go for cheap.
My roomate bought his 06 altima se-r from him about 5 months ago and haven't had problems with em.

Just trying to get a feel what I should try to get it for smile.gif

I would offer 3k-4k and that's pushing it.

1980 mitsubishi champ- stolen1995 toyota corolla. - daily driver1994 toyota celica gt. - project car1984 honda civic hatch - wifes
Too much unknown, too much work needed. Assume the motor is bad, or on its way out. You know nothing about it. The body needs work, the car needs paint, and the interior looks rough, and it is a SW21, so it's been swapped - who knows what corners were cut. You're buying someone else's problems.

Best to just find a stock or near stock SW21 and do it all yourself.

honestly.

how much do you really think the trade in value for that car was.

at best 400 usd. no clutch, botched paint job, and missing interior parts. Cars like that go to the auctions or to the tote the note dealerships.

most dealers have a 750 park fee (IIRC) which means thats the minimum profit they will make on a car they trade in. but in all seriousness. Id offer 500 for the car. too much work. Unreliable swap, and needs clutch.

might as well get a crappy red deuce and swap a weak v6 in it.

Learned a lot in 10 years...I hardly log in anymore, last loginToday Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOLIf you PM me and I dont respond, dont fret or cry.
