The part that is circled in red, what is it for??

I know it couples with the gt4 hood air vent,
but for cooling...... timing belt? LOL (i dunno)

Yes. It's blocked off for us (keep the dirt out, non functional) but it's there from rally. the ST165 rally cars melted their cam covers and snapped their cambelts from heat, alot of the improvements made to the ST185 and ST205 cars trickled down into the road cars.

Whats interesting to note about that piece is, it also carried thru to the ST215 3SGTE in the Caldina which directs the opposite way (to run air across the coil packs)

So smkr3w is correct, it is for cooling the timing belt.

It's weird that it is non functional for the stock st205 3sgte.. So the air that goes in there doesn't even reach the timing belt

I'd thought of opening up a hole for it, but i wouldnt want the dirt and **** goin in.

actually alot of the air misses it anyways, when you take the heat shielding off a 10-20 year old GT4's underbonnet you'll see a big dirt splatter on the underbonnet where the air has completely missed that ducting because it's not properly sealed.




looks like TTE deleted the ducting so its non-functional on the WRC ST205

I thought it was the housing for the air speed indicator so they know how fast they're going when they have no wheels on the ground.

I don't see a speedometer here, not to say they dont take a speed input for datalogging...

It was a joke, because WRC cars do spend a good deal of time in the air.
