So I just finally got my engine back from the machine shop.
...Of course, being paranoid like I am, I installed the new bearings and threw some plastigauge on each main journal to check clearance. According to the Haynes manual it's supposed to be between 0.0006" and 0.0013". Well, after torquing down the caps ( in proper order, multiple passes to 44 ft./lbs ), it looks like my oil clearance is between 0.0015"-0.002" across the board.
So basically, I just need some advice on how severe of an issue this actually is, and if I should be taking it back to the machine shop to have it re-done "right".
Edit: Just wanted to add that I did the measurement 100% dry... no oil under or on the bearings or journals (of course super careful not to turn the crank in this state). I'd much rather hear that I did something wrong (if indeed I have) than incur additional machine shop delays or end up on a wild goose chase!
