Toyota And BMW Teaming Up? - 6G Celicas Forums

This greatly disappoints me. I understand Toyota teaming up with Subaru for the FT-86, as it keeps production costs down. But really? They're THAT afraid to build their own sports car? I love older Toyotas but I can't stand what they do anymore.

Word. I feel the same way as you man. Even teaming up with Subaru for the frs bothered me..

And BMW and Toyota (and Porsche) are my favorite car companies, but I can for sure say I never wanted to see a joint venture from the two. kindasad.gif

TOYOTA Y U ALWAYS MAKE ME FACEPALM!

BMW = overpriced parts. If it wasn't for that I'd be all for it.

So BMW just wants to know how Toyotas get such good gas mileage lol..... At least that's what I took from that little bit of info.

And yes, BMW parts are crazy expensive to replace.

sounds interesting, can you say "The Perfect Ultimate Driving Machine"? a sports car between the two would be badass. like the article stated, it could usher in the new Supra. who wouldnt want a next gen Supra???

We want a Toyota Supra. Just like we want a BMW M1,M3,M5,M6. Not a comination of the two.

Toyota featuring BMW Supra sounds like the worst idea Toyota has ever had..

If it's a Toyota drive-train with BMW suspension that'd be one thing, sort of like how some of the Chrysler vehicles now use suspension components from Mercedes Benz. Sounds like it's going to end up how the FR-S/BRZ is though, made by the partner company only for Toyota to slap their badges onto it...

Sounds interesting.
another article i read says that BMW needs Toyota's fuel efficiency, and Toyota wants BMW's additional funding to speed up their R&D for fuel efficient technologies.. seems like Toyota is afraid to let their competitors catch-up.

As far as straight petrol vehicles go Hyundai is number one, they have four vehicles that get 40 mpg highway. Then their Sonata Hybrid gets 40 mpg.
