..Whats your favorite part/ reason for owning a celica? what makes it special to you??

Only Drive As Fast As Your Angel Can Fly
I love the way it makes me feel when I take a corner, the looks people give you and the rarity of nice ones around here. It makes me feel good about owning it. I always wanted a 5 speed Toyota and happened across this one when my Camry was destroyed. Sat down in it and fell in love instantly. The factory seats are by far the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in and I love the way they hug me. Idk, I just love everything about this car... accept for it's lack in power lol. Torque is great, I can spin my tires all day... but when I'm on the highway or going quick, I feel slow as hell. Hopefully the cams, SAFC, and exhaust will help that.

^ All of that, whilst I will add that I would like more torque. The seats are fantastic though, the feel is close to that of a Recaro product. The Celica, plainly, gives me what James May would term "the fizz," and that's why I like it.

Drop in a 1MZ-FE and solve your lack of power. tongue.gif

I like how it looks, inside and out. Main reason I got mine was for its fuel economy(ST 5-speed). Still handles and drives nice, and is quick for what it is. Easy to work on, especially for being a 90's car, everything is pretty much right in front of you and easy to access. Much higher quality of a vehicle when compared to the Civic, 200SX, MX-3, Mirage, Cavalier/Sunfire, Neon, and SC1/2. Of course it was also a more expensive car when new. Only vehicle in the same class I'd consider, would be the Integra.

words cannot describe why I love this old car so much, i cannot see myself driving anything else. a friend of mine recently lost his 6gc and after a few months of driving another car, he claims to feel just incomplete without his 6 lol
My favorite thing is that I rarely have to fix anything on it.

I loved everyones posts smile.gif thanks for commenting!! I love my celica because it is easy to maintain. the seats look like racing seats already.. bucket styled. you can add rims and a body kit and have it look cool too! smile.gif

I love that people mistake my car for an exotic car all the time and are genuinely surprised to find out its a Toyota even more surprised to find out its 16 years old. top quotes I hear is "Isn't that a little to expensive of a car to be delivering pizza in?" "Pizza guy's must do well here, nice car."
What's not to love? I love that the roofline is so low that I tend to lose it in parking lots or when I pull up next to even a FOCUS it makes it like a a Ford 4x4. I love how the seats are 2+2 like a real sports car with a back seat and I agree that the seats are the most comfortable of any vehicle I've owned, and I've had a Porche, a Lexus and a few Acura's. I can't complain with the gas mileage and the quality of the 5S. It's one of the sexiest cars ever made in my opinion, especially after I added the front/rear SSIII splitters, it would def be in my top 20 sexiest cars list if not top 10 (I'm talking of all time '30's to today so that's saying a lot). I get compliments on it all the time as well as looks from people on the street or pulling up next to me. I love how near mint my specific car is and how it looks like it's only a year old underneath. Though it was considered expensive for it's time, it was worth it as the quality of the vehicle is matched only to cars well out of it's class. It handles better than my old 944, or any Integra (including my Type R, though it doesn't brake as well) I've owned, and I was always bragged about the Integra handling. I love the nice throaty sound I have with the Injen intake and 2" exhaust (stock muffler) it roars, the sound just fits the car, not like a sport bike ... it actually sounds like it has balls (though I've yet to find them lol). But my favorite thing is how rare it is in my area. I can go in a 200 mile radius from Buffalo to Albany and only see MAYBE 5 of them in a year. I almost sh*t my pants yesterday when a vert passed me. I maybe see one 5th gen or 7th gen every other week, but NEVER 6th gens.

The only complaints I have is the lack of mid/high end torque (I'm typically used to more) and the sloppiness of the automatic transmission. I feel like it has a mind of its own some times and just doesn't want to downshift when I step on it. But the plan after I graduate from college (for the 3rd time rolleyes.gif) in December is to do a trans swap and cams. Not sure yet. Depends which job I get. If I get the one I want, it's staying stock for a DD and I'm going to source a low mileage MKIV Supra TT Targa.

good luck with that, be prepared to spend a ton of money. MKIV TT Targa 6 speeds dont grow on trees and they are NOT cheap. 60,000 miles will run you easily 50,000 grand. Autos are much cheaper. but if yo u want a supra, get an NA 5 speed and then just boost it. you will save so much money.

Run 195/40/17's. That's the recommended for a 17" wheel. 225 is HUGE. I noticed a large loss when I went from 205/40/17 to 215/45/17... so I can't imagine how bad yours must feel in the torque aspect. I'm going back to 205/40 ASAP.

Oh yeah, totally. The problem is, I won't be happy with it knowing there are rarer ones out there ... that mine wasn't originally that way. I'm not going to go crazy on it. It's going to stay pretty close to stock. Honestly, I'd rather buy a high mileage beat up 6 speed targa and do a rebuild and restore. If I get the job I want and am in current discussion with, I'll be making WELL into the 6 digits ... though sometimes I may not be in the states for months to a year at a time ... that's the part that may keep me from taking this job and we're discussing right now.

Nah, next I'm trying 205/40. 195 would be too skinny. Stock size was 215/45, so I only went one larger.

Are potholes an issue? My ride is comfy now, but adversely too cushy from a performance perspective. I used to read about complaints concerning noise and harshness from 40-series tires, but I'm thinking those were just conservative opinions - I for one don't really care if a bit of excess noise is present, that's what the volume button is for.

i love how i have 4wd and i don't see many gt4's in nz. i like how there is a bit of wrap for the driver.

i love the way the 3s sounds it doesn't realy scream it just rumbles quietly and under boost just sounds like a jet engine.

the tihng i like most though is that after giving it the business through some really twisty stuff on a long trip i can turn off onto the motorway and just relax and let it drive along comfortably

Everything about my Celica I love. My favorite part of my car is the hood. I like that people always mistaken her for a Tiburon and I'm like no...it's a Celica. Also my Celica is the only tuner/ricer/foreign car to be accepted into any classic car club. Everyone who sees my car stares at her and I'm like yeah that's right lol now listen to the bass rock your world....^_^ i never thought I'd be in love with any foreign car but she opened my eyes to new things.

same with Illinois. unless you go to Starved Rock state park, on RT-71. It's a pretty fun road when you don't get stuck behind a truck/sedan/cruiser/etc..
