Don't lie to us, you just didn't want to pay the delivery charge. tongue.gif

It's a win win situation. I get to drive the car and at the same time save money for parts. smile.gif
... Sells the car after 6 years and 90 000km, feels heartbroken and buys it back three months later. I just missed it too damn much and the 7gc couldnt even compare in fun-factor, never parting with it again:P

...your car is worth half as much as an Integra in the same shape, yet cost $5k more new.

...you get asked at least once a day if it's your (insert random female title here)'s car.

...you have to constantly justify the v6 swap to everybody.

...no one thinks anything of your purple zebra seat covers, because dudes don't drive Celicas.

...you go to a gay bar with a friend and drink for free because of said seat covers. (Win! I'll gladly drink for free!)

...valet park it, and the Valet leaves YOU a tip in the ashtray of his phone number.

...you get pulled over and get asked: "Does your girlfriend know you were speeding in her car?" (Car is in my name...grrr)

...you constantly get "Hey, sweet Integra!"

...you spent $600 on front and rear splitters because they were pre-painted the right color, and they came from Japan.

There's more I'll be adding as I visit more places and do more things with her.
You know you own a Celi when you try to fit a drink in the cupholder and realize that they were apparently made by the nazis

...you spend hours on ebay looking for the best deals on rare JDM parts
...people watch you drive past and you're like "WTF are You lookin' at MTRFKR??"
and then you realize ...Oh ya, the Car biggrin.gif

Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.
when you look at the side view of the celica and can tell if it's a coupe or a hatch
...
You know you own a celica when more of your parts come come from foreign countries than America.

Hello, new to the forum but not to Celica's or cars.

You know you have a celica when you have to describe your car as to having 4 round headlights and finally showing a picture what it looks like.

I've spent a crap ton of JDM parts since I've bought so many but I don't care I'm the Jdm part king now.

JDM Part King
I'm just hunting parts for my vert and saving to get projector lights and front lip and mats and ultra rare arm rest

did JDM do a bag for a vert roof cover ? and box for the OEM removable stereo face as they was already in my car when I bought it plus the tool kit
its a double edged sword, our celicas are not respected or desired here in the US because we got the low end options. So no one cares about it. The bright side, its not mainstream so when you fix it up, its unique and respected by those who see or experience it from you.

You know you own a Celica when you pull up to the trail head and people look at you funny when you magically pull two mountain bikes out of the back, While others have giant suv's or subaru's with bike racks. laugh.gif

I had that look last week, I can fit two mountain bikes (front wheels removed of course) in the back with room to spare for some other stuff. It's not the fastest or the most maneuverable car out there but it definitely makes up for it with pure convenience and reliability.
That was one of my favourite things about the Celica and my current car the Firebird. Being liftbacks with fold down rear seats there's a lot more cargo room than you'd think just from looking at them. Why manufacturers stopped making liftbacks is beyond me, last one I can think of is the Scion tC and of course they're gone now. You get sporty looks and utility, I fail to see the downside outside of potentially heavy lifts and perhaps partially reduced rigidity. If any of the current sports coupes were liftbacks they'd be greatly improved as far as being usable daily drivers.

You know you own a Celica when;
A parts car seems like a perfectly reasonably purchase.
You get asked " is that the all wheel drive one" every car meet.
you learned that Toyota does and will change its mind when designing more or less everything every other year.
you get saddened and immediately justify why yours /isn't/ a gt4
the other side of the world will have cooler parts.
when parts shopping you will repeat "will that fit in my chassis?"
bottom of doors, didn't need them anyways, let them rot.
5s-fe, oh you mean 3s swap, oh you mean 3s-gte, oh you mean .....
"its basically an mr2 but the other way"
there is always a big brake upgrade one way or another.
you get told " I like the ______ (supra,mr2,ae86) better"
you google search consists of : Motors that come in celica
5s-fe upgrades
motors swap in celica
beams in celica
beams motor price
v6 swap?

when you first joined the forum and realize you still have it after 10+ years and you just want to try all the jdm parts and front ends, and you then realize you spent so much on it, you can't go back and sell it or get rid of it, it becomes part of you and you cant ever get your money back. becomes a life size toy model for me.

When every time you see another one in public, you subconsciously note if it has JDM tails, the S2000 antenna conversion, TRD spats, etc.

When you refresh the classifieds forum once a day waiting for "FS: Projector headlights - $120 shipped".

When you can tell how much people know about cars based on the first question they ask about yours ("Is that a Supra/GT-Four?" vs. "Nice Celica, but what hood is that?").

When you buy a GT-Four in Forza Horizon 2 (which takes place in Italy) and wonder why they made it RHD and included a full Vis body kit for it, but they didn't go the full length to put in the JDM headlights or taillights.

When you see a 7th gen in public and wonder if they realize how much better looking your 6th gen is.

When you initially bought it just because it was cheap, had a nice "rally" stance, and had great online reviews, but you quickly realized just how much potential it actually has. I've only owned mine for about 5 months, and I'm already way sucked in to the lore behind it.

When you have a "favorite" 6th gen owned by someone on here who can actually afford serious mods.

When it's the first car you've owned that makes you realize all the hype about importing parts from other domestic markets.

And finally, when your girlfriend hates it because it's "too 90's". rolleyes.gif Just wait until I buy confetti seats...
