So who has car pc? What is it like? operating system? trying to figure out if it's anything I want.
I think car pc are becoming a thing of the past. With the advent of the iPads. People are mounting iPads to their cars and using thems as car pc.
Android tablets make a better CarPC then Ipads, they fit better, I don't know many cars that have openings large enough for a 10" screen. The Celica doesn't thats for sure or I would have used a 10" android tablet smile.gif

a CarPC utilizing Mac OSX Linux or Windows 7 would be far superior to either the Android or IOS, as it would have much more expand-ability and more platform skins for the environment.
im running a car pc. win 7 1.6 amd proc, miniITX board

The feature is called mirrorlink, and it basically connects your phone with a remote screen and allows you to control the phone on there. So its like you installed an android tablet into your dash w/o actually having done so.

I'm sure gonna buy it

your looking at a retail price of 550 according to crutchfield
Sony-XAV-601BT

unless there a cheaper unit with the same mirror link "feature" IMHO not worth it. its pretty cool though. if it was around the 300 dollar price range then i might consider this unit.

*Thing i want for my car(i wish i had money)*-full gt4 front end conversion(DONE :) JUST NEEDS PAINT(next on to do list)-new seats all around-riser blocks-fog lights-new radio and speakers all around-full bodykit splitters and sideskirts to go with conversion(just needs fitting and painting)-nice rims(Got TC rims and painted them white)-light blue tint (next step will do this right after i get my paint job)WTB Reasonably pricedProjectors just Lows
$550 isn't bad, i would buy it if i had the cash. i was expecting it to be in the $800 range considering it's a sony.

it's like an android tablet if you wanted it to be, but still has the radio tuner.... that's the win for me. Wanted that radio tuner. But I'll prolly wait a few months for the price to drop.

Underpowered, expensive and too ungainly in the celica

acer iconia tab was $189, not expensive at all, the tegra 2 dual core is quite powerful using android ics os, and the mounting i chose looks factory. but a car pc definitely has more expand-ability upgrade-ability and power. one day i will probably install an actual pc but the android tablet does it for me just wish i piceked one with usb host connectivity.
