Offsets and Hubcentric Spacers? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #83744 8 posts Started by Syaoran
Hey,

So I'm looking for wheel adapters to fit a set of BBS RX 16x7 +42 wheels that are 5x114.3.

Will a set of 25mm adapters fit fine in the car with no modifications needed, even lowered?

Also, do I really need the adapters to be centric to the wheel hub? Aren't acorn nuts supposed to center the wheel when tightened in a cross pattern?

i suggest hubcentric its better the acorn nuts don't guarantee its going to be centered perfectly.

Yes, I was watching those a while ago thank you. I am getting the spacers hubcentric. It's just that it is hard to find them wheel-centric as well for less than $200 for all of them lol.

yea that is true they cost a pretty penny. i know how you feel. maybe you get lucky like i did some one on here was selling his hubcentric 5x100 and i was able to pick em up at like half price with some use (i mean parts like these used won't matter.)

My main question is how MUCH I need the spacers to be so I can clear the studs and clear the fenders as well? I'm not afraid of doing some negative camber in the front but I think it is unnecessary.

Already went through both of them. I still don't completely understand... The one that is the least vague is the flush fitment one but it still is vague.

I do understand what offset is and how it works. I just don't know how much clearance the front and rear fenders have.

ok simple.

since both rims are 7 yours and OEM

our cars come with a 38 offset rims..

you are using 42 offset, which means they will be sucked in.

for them to be at oem, you will need at least a 5mm spacer.

now your rims are 5 x 114.3

you have to have adapters to convert 5x100 to 5 x 114.3

the minimum for this is at least 20 mm.

regarding safety for a daily driver, i opted not to use these adapters, they need to be checked periodically for tightness, as if the adapter fails, you know what happens.

at 25 mm, you will probably require to roll the fenders.

i just found the perfect 35 offset rim, and no adapters, thats just me.

if you still want spacers, adapters, make sure they are hubcentric.
