Manual Transaxles that fit 7A-FE - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #83737 5 posts Started by dcolby10
Hey

I know that this has probably been answered already in another post, however I couldn't find it anywhere. I am wondering what transmissions fit the 7A-FE engine that resides in my Celica. I know that the tranny that is bolted onto it right now is the C52, but I was wondering what other transmissions fit and if it would be better just to rebuild the one that I currently have.

Thanks

the 5 and 6 speed in the 7th gen celicas are very close. you might have to drill a hole or two.

Excellent, thank you very much
Any C series trans that originally came on an A Series engine. The 7th gens' don't fit... the bellhousings are different. That leaves you with... a TON of options from gear ratios to final drives, to LSD and even between 5 speed and 6 speed... given that the C series trans are probably toyota's most common.

I found a 1998 Corolla transmission that I figure is a C59 series that my mechanic is going to strip the gears out of and place into my C52. Hopefully this will work, or else I will have to pay to get brand new gears which on a student budget is quite expensive. By the way thanks Kwanza for the reply.
