00+ gts brake swap an abs delete - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #83514 44 posts Started by kurt95gt
i'm with playr158 on this one. a car with ABS will be able to keep each tire at their peak braking limits, even when the slip conditions per wheel vary between left/right and front/rear, especially during cornering where the inner wheels are most likely to slip first during braking.
one reason not to have it is to have that feeling of being "one with the machine" without any electronic driving assistance.

I just don't want to keep buying ABS sensors and since it doesn't work... I'm removing it lol
Non-ABS part #'s.. i dont remember if the master part number is in this list, i think its just brake lines

Well I want to add ABS at some point. The rear wheels lose traction alot faster than the front and ABS would balance that out.
btw, TC gear will fit our cars too...

Just got a set of caliper, brackets, pads, and rotors for a TC. I'll post up later after install.

TC bracket bolted right on.

almost the same size.

ST on top, TC on bottom

pads and bracket for ST on left, TC on right

new brakes.

The bracket for my ST brakes and the bracket for the TC had the same sliding pin rust and lock in place. I had to clean this out prior to fitting. Probably the cause for horrible brakes before.

Time for some TC brake upgrades (once I find the weakness in these)

>Got to looking at parts. Seems 7th gen Celica is single pot too. It's the MR2 Turbo that had dual pot calipers, along with the ST202 and ST205 if I recall correctly. I think I remember something on here about someone using MR2 Turbo calipers.

The ST205 have four pot calipers and ventilated 315mm discs in front and two pot (floating) calipers in rear (also 315mm discs)

The ST205 brakes is really good actually.

TC pads look like less surface area?
how is this beneficial?
I was thinking better aftermarket support, if anything.

the st205 brakes are the best brakes for our cars, however they arent cheap and are hard to find in the states.

All you guys who are deleting ABS are crazy. I have LS400 fronts, and I would love to have my ABS back (had a rear hub go out, and all I could score was a non-ABS unit). Please sell me the ABS hubs then so I don't have to spend $400 at Toyota.
