guys just wondering if theres anything i can do to regulate my a/f mixture when the car is still cold. im getting readings of 10-10.5 a/f ratio when its cold. its like this until it warms up. when nits nice and warm, my ratios are good, 14.7 at idle.
i know when the car is cold it takes the reading from the o2 sensor to manage the fuel and when its warm it uses the map sensor.
so is there a way to trick the car into always using the map readings instead????
im using 460 injectors, stock fpr, and SAFC2
thanks!

when is cold, it shoud be running richer, some cars use an extra injector to add extra fuel to help the engine start during cold weather, ( 4th gens had this and maybe 5th gens as well ) our cars just come mapped to dump extra fuel on the 4 injectors to help the engine start, once it warms up the reading would be normal again. you can try replacing the O2 sensors to improve your A/F at idle a little but expect to always see the readings on the rich side when is cold.
dont try to " fool " the o2 sensors, and dont do changes to your fuel map ( assuming you are tuned for your turbo ) during cold weather, because once it warms up, your reading will be very off and could blow your engine. all tuning has to be done at operating temperatures.
why dont you just remove more fuel from the low throttle map using the safc?

its not going to hurt the rings. thats normal for cold starts.

Every car runs rich when its cold out, otherwise it would stall. 10/1 isnt really all that bad of a reading, it's still in the norm of a fuel chart.
With just the SAFC, your not gonna be able to tune that out.
the closest thing to do is like art said, set your lo-throttle map set-points to low rpms for the first 2-3 set points, like 850rpm, 1200rpm, and 2000rpm, then pull out fuel at those points, and keep an eye one the a/f once the car is fully warm to be sure it isnt too lean.
whats happening, is your o2 sensor isnt being used by the ecu while the car is warming up for fuel corrections in closed loop, and once the car is warm, the o2 sensor takes over, and the ecu uses that to correct the fuel trim in closed loop.

thanks for all the replies guys, well not its not that bad since the climate is warming up here in california the car warms up faster now. it sits between 11 and 12 now at idle for a few minutes and then back up to 14.7
question for presure2 or anyone that has tuned a turbo 5s using a safc
i got my throttle points to 30 for low and 50 for high
when im cruising in low throttle my afr is between 12.5 and 13.5, when im at WOT its about 11.3-11.5
but in mid throttle when im like 40% throttle my turbo starts spooling around 2900 rmp and my afr shows 14.2-13.2 when boost is between (1-4 psi)
is that bad to be lean at early boost? i tried adding fuel around the early 3k rpm's in both maps but it doesnt change much....
i got a boost spike of 10psi at around 3,900 rpm but my afr here is 11.5,but i hold 8psi till redline, also between (5-8psi) my afr stays between 11.3-11.5
im just worried about that mid throttle/early boost...........i cant seem to work out that bug out with the safc2
so once again is it bad to be lean in early boost??
i think you are ok with those AFs. as long as you start getting back into the 11s by the time you are at about 6psi
