installed trd springs on monroe oe spec struts with new mounts frt and rear frt is great no noise from the rear over bumps it make a knock noise reinstalled the oem mounts noise got a little less pronounced. When jacking the car up i noticed lots of play on the coil spring are the oe spec struts not allowing the springs to seat properly in the rear? any help would be great

Thats weird! you sure the monroe struts are the same size, TRD springs are not much lower than stock so should be a snug fit. Bump stops won't make noises they just stop the car from bottoming out, Id put money on it that its something related to the spring moving, defs have the the 2 rubbers on each spring end, bit inbetween strut mount and bearing? I forget how the rear was setup.

The rear springs are largely unloaded/uncompressed when the wheels are off the ground -- that's why some people don't bother using a spring compressor to disassemble them, though I'd rather not take the chance.

Shorter springs reduces that load even more, to the point where the strut mount can be loose. This is a problem when re-installing as the spring seat and strut mounts must be correctly aligned to prevent the spring and mounts from rattling. There's an SST, but most people simply use a pair of bent-tip needlenose pliers to hold the strut mount in its proper alignment.

The other issue is remembering to install the spacer on the strut rod, between the strut mount and the strut rod nut.

something in the strut is installed wrong, something missing making it loose, or the nut is not tight enough. i know what you are talking about, im just throwing out ideas first. of course cus its hard to tell without seeing it.
