i want my celi to be as low as possible what brand of coil overs would be the best for that?
what coilovers should i get? - 6G Celicas Forums
Not saying they are best performance coils out there, but I'm on D2's and my car is slammed (possibly the lowest static 6gc?). And the rediculous part is they go lower... Lots of options for adjustment, and replacement struts are in stock and only like $125.. I'm satisfied.
And honestly, the car handles great and isn't uncomfortable to me at all, which I've heard people say about d2's or coilovers of the sort.

I think Megan's drop 3". I think mak's is the lowest I've seen though.

Megans are really good too IMO

i have Megans they drop about almost 4" i assume because im somewhere around 3.5" with a bit more adjustments i can do. BCs i think are better made Megans in my opinons. they drop pretty low too.
basically most of these parts came from the taiwan/china partsbin its really up to you to read reviews even from other forums. again im talking about budget coilovers, there are really expensive ones too.

Oddly enough the Tein and Tanabe, both being made in Japan, are cheaper than some of the sets made in Taiwan... Only thing I didn't like about the Tein was that it only drops 1.2" in the rear. Why I plan on Tanabe, drop 2.5" in front and 2" in rear. That and they were a little stiffer than the Tein. Shame, because I love the Tein lowering springs I have now.

tanabe are non adjustabe coilovers. I mean that you can change the dampening force on it. So the stiffness/ ride quality is always set to factory, just like our normal shocks, which is pretty lame for a coilover.

that is kinda true, TEIN Basic and SS are scraps of metal. D2 Ksport Megan BC, are all better than those Tein low end coilover models and you still have to reuse the oem stuff on the TEINs.

Not to mention, from what I hear, obtaining a replacement strut from TEIN is way harder than from say, D2 or Megan. And you will blow struts..

Tein and Tanabe are more reputable brands and are made in Japan, and everywhere I have seen they cost more than BC/Megan/D2/Ksport, and they don't include damping adjustment/pillowball mounts/camber plates. But the Tein and Tanabe actually bolt up properly (don't have the backwards brake line bracket like the others).
Comparing these Japan and Taiwan coilovers is the same thing as comparing Honda/Toyota to Kia/Hyundai. With the Kia/Hyundai you get more features for a cheaper price, but its still a Kia/Hyundai.

I'll take a Genesis over a Toyota or Honda.

I'd be fine with that. Then again 8 kgf/mm on front and 6 kgf/mm on rear would get annoying after awhile for street use I'd imagine.
Got to looking again and the Tein were more than Tanabe, D2, Megan, XYZ, and KSport. Some of the KSport and the D2 were little more than Tanabe. Then Megan, XYZ, and lower KSport in the $1,000 or less range. Of course this was off of Andy's Auto Sport, they're a little overpriced but they make it easy to see what's available for a car.

Hyundai is actually pretty good now. Have been since mid 2000's. Kia on the other hand, still just terrible.
