What are these 2 hoses and what are they supposed to connect to? IIRC my mechanic plugged them to bring my idle back to normal, but now its idling at 1600 rpm.

I could be wrong but they look like the hoses to the idle up control valves. One is on the power steering rack to raise the rpms when you turn the steering wheel and the other is on the passenger side of the intake to raise the rpms when the AC is on. If he plugged them on one end then this means that where ever he unplugged them from is now open. It would take at least 4 plugs for two hoses
OK is there any chance these two hoses are causing my high idle problem?
Yes you need to trace them to their source, make sure the bolts/plugs are actually holding vacuum, and find out what he disconnected them from and whether they are plugged as well.

Disconnecting anything in the vacuum system and capping it off is rigging it and a temporary fix. I would expect to see things duct-taped together and held in with only half the mixmatched bolts with that level of mechanic skill. Any idea as to what he was trying to fix when he did this and why he chose such a cheap fix?
I don't know where they go, that's why I asked rolleyes.gif I can't see them through the engine bay, and have to pay $ every time I use the hoist. Nothing was disconnected purposely, we found those hoses while installing an axle. I'm not going to spend a lot of money on this, because a 1600 rpm idle isn't really a huge deal, but still annoying.
