Hello all.
Anybody else notice that without any kind of dust shield between the rotor and the wheel that everytime it rains the rotors grow a nice layer of rust.
So first off is there supposed to be a dust shield on the outside of the rotor instead of just the inside? I have no way of knowing if there was and maybe a PO took it off for 'cosmetics'. The first isnt bad, it only takes a stop or two to clean the rotors off but this cant be good for the rotor and pad. Surely it makes the surface a little uneven.
Since pulling the car into the garage isnt a viable option( 3 cars, a truck and a bike plus lots of crap) is there a way to minimize this issue without putting a car cover on everytime it rains(and hauling a wet car cover in the trunk)?
Maybe a ceramic rotor of some sort, or perhaps a dust shield that isnt too ugly?

There is no dust shield in the front. Several people paint their hubs to prevent rust and the brakes scrape the surface rust off the first time you touch the brakes. It's no big deal since it's just surface rust. Looks a little unsightly but it's not a big deal.

It sure makes that first stop fun though. Talk about instant stopping lmao. I wish I could have rust on my rotors all the time!

Yea, spray paint the rotors (obviously don't paint the part that contacts the pads). I would only use a steel grey colored paint, otherwise its going to look ricey and stupid lol. I bought rotors that were supposed to be coated, but they still rusted right away, so paint is the way to go.
