#$@% rear mount - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #82545 6 posts Started by Soulend
I honestly spent 4 hours trying a million and one ways to get the rear mount on my car. can someone please explain this to me... like to a 5 year old explain. I cant get the rear mount above the bracket because of rack and pinion is right effin there... any suggestions would be awesome!

I find it easiest to unbolt the subframe that the rack and pinion mounts to. There are 4 bolts on each side.

Thats what I do...

Everyone says rock the engine, but I could never get it to work. 1 1/2 inch drop on the subframe and it goes right in.
both mounts out (dont put the front one in first) disconnect exhaust from downpipe, lay under car (head @ crossmember, feet twoard front) push engine backward by the front mount bracket, put rear mount in bracket, with the 2 studs pointing out to the front of the car, slide the crossmember into place while aligning the studs with the holes.
works every time.

I'm assuming the passenger and driverside mounts are connected while this is going on? tongue.gif

the front mount is the first mount i remove. that allows the engine to rock while taking the rear bolt out. with the drivers wheel off, use 3 extensions and a 17MM socket and undo it.

here is a guide i wrote for 7th gens but the 6th is almost exactly the same.
