header problems - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #82525 22 posts Started by TannerEsser
i was wondering if there is a way to run a header on a 5sfe with the cat under the header. is there a way to bypass the o2 sensors without driving around with the check engine light on?

Im not to sure how well it works but weapon- r makes a cel eliminator for the o2 sennsors check it out and see what you think the site is called weapon-r.com
you get a check engine light? what header are you using?

well it will be on because no matter what header i get only one of the two o2 sensors will be atatched
i only got one o2 sensor attached on mine with no CEL.

did yours only come with one?
no, if you buy any of the headers off eBay, they come with a mounting spot for both of the o2 sensors. I'm running the header from eBay, but since I have a '95, i only have 1 o2 sensor, but I'm still using the second one to see my A/F ratio.

ya but i have two for the emission control system. and if there is no cat converter in between those two sensors the check engine light will be on..

i don't believe it will be on. i haven't heard of any problems on here before about.
I have a ebay header with both o2 sensors in it an both are hooked up just like stock
I have no cell no light or anything
I dont have a cat earher
Idk if it will pass emissions or no since they dont check where i live

My light has kicked on once since the header an that was because my o2 came unplugged

OBD1 doesn't care, OBD2 'generally' does.

this is the key.. wink.gif

thanks guys. i do have a camry manifold. any ideas where i should put my second o2 sensor?
well if you can get some pics, it would be easier for us to help you
my engine

Have a bung welded in above the 4 wire and put your 1 wire sniffer in. What year is your Celica? Looks the same as my 94 OBDI California emissions.

Just realized you have a two wire upstream, so you're OBDII.

If you want to run a cat, have a universal Magnaflow one welded in down below and extend the wires to it.

yes he is OBDII, but there were two sensors on my '95 cali spec.

as for that camry manifold, it maybe farther up on it, but i don't understand why you're replacing a stock exhaust with a stock exhaust...
just the a header off ebay! depending where you get it from, it shouldn't be too much
CA cars have 2 O2 sensors, all years

2001 Celica GT-S Turbo1997 Supra TT 6speed1997 Celica 3MZ/1MZ swap1990 Celica All-Trac
so just to clarify with my set up if i got ebay headers my check engine light would not be on?
With OBDII it will probably pop under heavy acceleration. You can have a bung welded in past your 2nd cat and extend the wires to fix that.

Camry manifolds, for whatever reason, were a tubular manifold versus the Celica's log style. Log style tends to be better for low RPM efficiency, which leads to better take-off, while the longer runners on the Camry's 4-1 tubular design are often better for efficiency at higher RPMs.
