Recently I have been having a ton of problems with my celica shaking only when in drive when stopped. If I put it in neutral it mostly goes away.


I haven't really started looking at much to fix the problem because I just didn't know where to start.

Maybe one of the mounts is gone. When was the last time the car got a tune-up?

I took it too a local mechanic and he looked at somethings and said he couldn't figure it out. I did a tuneup in summer. My dad checked the motor mounts and he said that they looked new.

It idles around 600-700 and if I press on the gas and get it up atleast to 800 or a 1000rmps it runs just fine.

It's possible you're tranny isn't disengaging the way it should when you press on the brake. Maybe a faulty switch. I assume this is an automatic by the way you're talking?

When is the last time you cleaned out the throttle body and linkage? Maybe there is some dirt preventing the IAC valve from opening the butterfly enough.

But you said it runs fine in neutral, so that leads me to believe it's transmission related. Check your fluids, a possible tranny oil change is in order, and have a shop check your shift solenoid, (if they exist on these cars, never dealt with an AT Celica directly before) or any other sensors that may be in line to brake to tranny relation.

I haven't had this car but like 3 month and in that 3 months I haven't got to do anything with it.. The people that had it before me I don't think took very good care of the car.

It is an auto.

And when I get back I will take it to a shop and have them check that and look into cleaning the throttle body and linkage and report with my results.

It ended up one of the engine mounts. They said it would be about 300 to have it fixed.

It's never just one mount. Replace both side mounts and the front mount. You can DIY with hand tools and a floor jack.

They said It's the crossmember mount? I am working on getting a jack and I will be able to.
