Help!! GT4 brake conversion issue - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #82145 5 posts Started by PL-41-ER
Hi all,

I just noticed an issue with my front brakes.

This is happening to the inner and outer pads on the front brakes.
Could it be that I have the wrong pads, or the rotors have been machined down more than 300mm.

Also I noticed that on turns the ball joints come in contact with the rotors. I can clearly see the marks engraved on the front rotors from the ball joint.

Would anyone know what is the cause of these 2 issues?
the problem with your conversion, is that its custom. before machining down the rotor, first wast to check if the pad would actually fit, at least a guestimation.

i would measure the rotor as well, it could be its less than 300.

as far as the ball joint hitting, that was a well known situation, that some members addressed with a spacer.

It would also help if you told us what your setup is.

What brake pads, from What model/year

Spacers?
Rotor s from what?
My setup:

- New DBA Rotors machined to 300mm
- New HAWK HPS Pads (Supra twin turbo)
- No spacers installed
He is right, to a degree.
My 205 rotors are trimmed to 300mm and I have supra pads.
The outer pads fit 100% perfectly but my inners sit a few mm lower than the outers.
Just to be safe I trimmed off a few mm from the bottom of the inner with my grinding wheel and good to go.

Also, my rotors do not hit my ball joint.
I put new ball joints in a about 2 years ago and I don't have my car sitting too low.
Both of those things could cause the rotor to hit.
