Exhaust advice - 6G Celicas Forums

I was woundering if anyone could tell me what exhaust has a deep tone to it even when you floor it. I'm rying to decide on a brand to go with since I found someone who can get me any brand for around $180.
Here some guidelines you should follow, that most people don't. The most common thing people do, is buy a muffler online or a tuner-shop and then walk to an exhaust place and say "put this on with 2 and a 1/2 inch piping from the cat." and expect to get a low tone.

1) Too much width on your piping = Loudness and gurgling. (You ONLY need 2 and 1/4" from cat back). As long as your NA (Natural Aspiration), you don't need oversized exhaust piping.
2) 2 and 1/4" is approx 60MM, most Inlet size on NA Universal Mufflers are 60MM, so don't get a muffler with 90MM Inlet, they are Turbo Universal Mufflers.
3) Have all bends on Custom Piping be Mandrel, if the Exhaust Shop won't do it, find another place.
4) Get a Universal 60MM Inlet/Outlet Resonator (http://www.supremeexhaust.com/PartInfo.aspx?pid=43). 55$, and it'll help the tone be lower.
5) Have them weld your Custom Piping, Resonator and Muffler into the exact same path as your stock exhaust, else your exhaust may be too low and/or clank against something.

If you follow those guidelines, you should be good with tone and performance by not overdoing it. A Greddy SP is pretty much the same exact thing with a different muffler. They are 60MM Piping, 60MM Inlet/Outlet 12' Resonator etc...
thanks for the advice that answered a lot of questions i had
My car has a really sweet low tone and all I got was an arospeed muffler welded onto the stock exhaust piping. Even when i floor it, it isnt that loud, Ive got nothing but compliments on it.

This is the EXACT same one that I have

Always, Always....get a resonator if you want it to sound smooth with a custom catback. A guy at my work with a Corolla had an exhaust put on with 2 1/4" pipe, and it sounded horrible, like every Honda i hear at school. He didnt want it to sound so raspy so he got a cheapy resonator put on by the shop he went to, and its got to be the best sounding exhaust i've ever heard now. Its deep and smooth even when he floors it, and its not excessively loud whatsoever.

EDIT- And also...mufflers with huge diameter outlets dont tend to sound as good as a smaller diameter tip. Although Celicas do have a nice low engine pitch which makes even a bigger muffler sound acceptable. So its your choice. >wink.gif>

I've noticed GReddy makes the only full catback exhuast for 6gs.....at least that's all I've found. The GReddy SP is what I plan on getting, I'll let ya know what I think.

You can hear mine in my profile, there's a link. I like mine, read in my profile...definitely a deep tone when going, and it gets a bit loud with the intake added...but only during WOT high RPM runs. It's not obnoxiously loud though, just makes you know i'm there.
