Hey,

Looking to get into a new car since the insurance company is telling me I'm losing the rental very soon.

Spotted this one for sale, and actually went and looked at it this weekend.

It is very clean as the seller describes. I usually am not interested in someone else's project, but I just can't seem to find anything I like in my price range right now (4-8k or so).

What are your thoughts? Any all trac owners with any thoughts? Help!

Did your car get wrecked? :'(???
Ya. Some idiot in a BMW SUV decided not to stop behind me in stop and go traffic. So ya. Car is totalled and I don't have time/money/garage to rebuild right now frown.gif

Wow man...so sad, your car was insanely clean and so beautiful kindasad.gif...Good luck with a new one!!!
Thanks. I loved her. Probably will get something else for a while and in another 9 years when gt4s become legal in Cali get back into celicas again. Who knows though... Maybe I'll grab this all trac. Still trying to decide.

Are you parting your old car?

God made man....Everything else...Made in China
I don't like the body style of the 5th gens too much... BUT. GTS' and All-Trac (GT4)'s look sick.

I'm actually working on getting a 5th gen GTS myself. White, 90K miles, two sets of rims. A tad bit of rust, but for the price... $1,200... I can't beat it. Working on getting it for my uncle. He's in love with my Celica and misses his old one... and time has come for him to get rid of his MKIII Golf for something better.

Those are illegal in CA?

The smaller size is a bit of a concern to me. I'm not huge but at 6' I felt a little cramped in the seat of the 5th gen. It felt a lot like my brother's old paseo honestly in terms of size.

As far as I can tell its totally Cali legal--- with the mods he's done it may fail smog but it shouldn't be that much trouble to get it to pass with a little work.

Anyone got thoughts as to value of this all trac? He was originally asking 9k but after two months with no offers I honk I may be able to get it to 7.5-8k. Is that decent? It's a tough one to value because it's so unusual.

of course they are legal in CA, i have one. you will love the AWD, the car isnt really that fast stock, but get a set of cams and upgrade to a CT20 and you will have a MACHINE!

Is it silly that I'm actually happy with the stock power of the 5S-FE and the stock power of the 3S-GTE? I feel like the car is balanced with these. Neutral power... idk. It's weird and the more I think about it, I really like how the car feels and responds with low HP, high torque.

Coming from someone who owns two alltracs, if I had the liquid to drop on that car, I would have done it when he first posted it up.

$9k is a fair price given the body condition of the car alone. I would inquire as to the complete mod list to ensure that there are no cheap xspower turbos or crap like that on it.

I will warn you of this:

This is a modified 20 year old car. Toyota reliability is probably long gone by now. I don't know the background on this car, but most alltracs take a lot of work to be DD qualified.

I just went through his old posts on AT.net and you might luck out with this car. There were a few issues that he may have fixed, but I'd make sure you got all the ups and downs before taking the plunge.

I'll tell you though, when they are running well, they are some fun smile.gif

I'm not an All-trac owner, but I am a GEN2 3SGTE/ 5th gen GT-S owner. GET HER! That car is beautiful! I will tell you though from personal experience, if you plan on upgrading anything else and running more boost, save yourself the agony now and do the shimless bucket conversion. A friend of mine with a 1992 All-Trac has had to pull his engine twice due to spitting out shims....and by "he has had to pull his engine twice" I actually meant "he's completely automotively incompetent and I pulled it twice". His mods are Greddy 20G converted to external wasgtegate, RMR intake manifold, E-manage blue box @ 20psi. He's finally listened to me and went shimless! (which is a good thing because I now live 14 hours from him) tongue.gif

gorgeous car man, classic!! BUY!

What I think when you think I care
Cool car, but what they said about toyota reliability being gonzo. Ive got an st165 that i can rip on and nothng major goes wrong, but i feel like just about every minor thing does. Or maybe i just love my trac and it doesnt love me. frown.gif

Fun cars though.
