Knocking brake - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #81633 4 posts Started by dudeofchaos
I installed steel rims yesterday and everything was fine before I did. When I took it out the rear right wheel started knocking. I first though maybe I did something wrong while installing the rim. But I took it off and put it back on, everything seemed okay. Though the lugs were hot and the brakes were very hot, could barely touch the disk at first.

Any ideas?
what size rims are they?
are they rubbing on the caliper at all?
If you're still speaking of the GT-4, then, to my knowledge, there is not a steel wheel that fits in existence, therefore you must be rubbing on the caliper.

Look at the offending corner and study the potential contact surfaces on the caliper and inside of the wheel barrel.

i had this exact same thing happen to me when i first got my celica. i hadn't changed anything yet, so i dont think it would be the rims. check the parking brake shoes inside the rotor. i found that to be the cause in mine.
