A Few Questions from a New 6th Gen Celica Owner - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #81458 7 posts Started by CeliGoliath202
Just out of curiousity, and I'll make this short. I want to tune up my 6th Gen Toyota Celica, its a convertible and it has a few issues but I'll worry about that later, but as for tuning it up, I don't know where exactly to start with it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd appreciate any comments and feedback. (I checked out the FAQ a bit, but I wasn't exactly sure on where to begin with it.)

Replace or clean the following. (Your car may not have all these parts.)
Spark plugs
Wire set
Distributor Cap
Rotor
Air filter
Fuel filter
PCV valve
Valve adjustment
Clean throttle body
Clean MAF sensor
Clean battery cables
No MAF sensor unless its swapped

Valve adjustment? only if the engine is noisy.

And invest in a Haynes Repair manual, esp if you're new to working on your own car. It's been extremely helpful for me!
or download the toyota service manuals. even better IMO

x2 - the haynes hasn't ever done much for me. All the pics are of 5th gens.... I would also take a look at your brakes. I've had a couple stock calipers seize up on me in the past couple years. So I'd look at that. What year is the car? Auto or manual?
when I got mine the first I did the basic stuff spark plugs an wires pvc valve valve cover gasket
an dizzy cap an rotor
an don't bother with the haynes manual I have one an its next to useless I can google a question an get a awnser 10x faster than I can ever find it in that book if the answer was even there to start wiy
