I have the original OEM alloys 205/55/15 I'm wondering what's a good tire? I was looking into Dunlop AP 5000 and Michilen Pilot. I'm looking for a all season ultra preformance. I'm not going to race so I don't really need top racing tires rather something I can drive in year round and once in awhile drive fast with it.
Tires? - 6G Celicas Forums
check out Bridgestone Potenza S02PP or Toyo Proxes T1-S. The michelin Pilot is a very good tire.
I did not mention the Bridgestone Potenza S03PP since you have 15 rim. S03 starts from 16"

Please remember that all of us makes the same mistake when choosing tire. Always put on the best. You buy a expensive car and put on crap.
You see that fast, you need grip for cornering or braking. Take my word for it.
You might go fast and unexpectedly travelled on some wet or slick road. You know what can happen next.

I would say either those or Goodyear Ventura. They are R Rated and they handle VERY nice in the snow and ice. I have BF Goodrich and slid all over the damn road. I got these and its like summer now. 4 tires only cost me $350. That's installed, balanced, aligned, disposal of old tires, and new valve stems. And don't forget about the ever so popular tax.
Go with Goodyear. They are having trouble with the economy and laying off a bunch of people from my community. With enough support maybe they wont have to lay off as many. Plus they make tires that are as good as any other company.

I have the Dunlop SP Sport 5000. They are W-rated (240km/h +) all seasons. I think they are great. I am amazed how well they do in snow, even in 4 or 5 inches high. I have them for a year now, the treadwear seems pretty good also.

Don't get Firestone they have real good grip but don't last that long.

Same goes for Hankook Ventus and Pirelli tires.
so does anybody know other all season tires thats actually good in snow ?
other than Dunlop SP Sport 5000

I just got the SP 5000 also. I think you should get those. I heard Pilot XGT V4 but those are very pricey. And also Michilen A/S those are even more pricey.
Well I have Khumo supras and I am very happy with them. They are some of the cheapest Z rated tires out there. I have put about 10K on them and the tire wear is good. Mynzeyes also has them and is happy with them. I know that they are newer in the tire market but I would recomend them to anybody.

Think that's what i should roll with when i get my rims within the next month?
Mind you , they wont be going on for about another month...they will not touch god awful snow!!

Thats what I was gonna say. I have the Kumho supras too, and I love them. Ive had mine for over a year and the tire wear is excellent. I actually want a bigger tire than I have and I am ready for them to wear out, but they jut wont. >
I'm thinking about the Kumho's because of you guys now... >

Im not sure if anyone is aware of this, But if you owna celica 99 Celica GT (im only positive abut the 99 GT year modles) those cars came stock with V rated tires, so its useless in my own opinion to put anything but less than a V rated tire. The tires are the only connection between you and the road and you want to have the maximum grip at all times. So if you still are lookin for some good tires go with some V rated they might not last more than30-60 thousand miles but when you need them to work right they will everytime. Falken make a really decent V rated tire that cost for celicas in the 205/55/15 size for around 380.00 and some tax not a bad deal for what your payin for, ust thoght i would drop some newly acquried information.

Michilen Pilot XGT and Dunlop SP 5000. Those were my choices. I didn't have enough money so I got the SP 5000 and I like them, but are you looking for all season tires? Or Summer Tires? If it's all season I would choose between the Michilen and the SP5000. I don't think they have the Michilen Pilot A/S in 205/55/15...but if you do find it I would go for those very pricey though.
get the dunlop sp5000 over the michelin XGTs anyday.. the michelins are terrible in snow and rain.
the only thing bad about the sp5000 is it doesnt come in 205/50R16 >

those are really good tires for the money, but the potenza 950 or the 730 is better, but they cost a little more too. >

you really should watch what you say about firestone, those of us that work for the company don't like to get bad mouthed. >
I have been looking at the Continental Conti extremecontact, looks like a real decent tire and they have it in a v-rated 205-55-15 around 90-100 each.

My advice:
Potenza S02 or SO3 if you could afford them.

what about the cheapest decent tire? Sumitomo or Kumho?
Toyo Proxes T1-S. Excellent tire, also handles really well in the wet. Toyo is having a promotion right now, cheap tires. I'm not sure about US, but in Toronto the tires are going for like 40% off retail.
I just bought Kumhos ecsta supra 712 from tiretrends.com for my 16" 7g alloy wheels - at 85$/tire for 205-50zr16 you cant go wrong. They look very good. They stick to the road dry/wet. They rock.
the best tires I have fgound are the toyo proxes ts1
Or the hankook ventus proformance
