Coolant Leak! Help Please - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #80608 8 posts Started by zwithey

I currently have a 1994 Toyota Celica GT Coupe with a T3/T4 Turbo setup on it.

Recently I noticed that coolant was leaking only after the car is shut off. After the car has been sitting for awhile, such as overnight, when I start it it blows a cloud of white smoke then runs normally after that. It does have an oil cooler, not sure if that's the problem though. The coolant overflow tank has also been removed. I was told it could be a lot of things. . Any advise would be awesome!

Thanks,

-Zach
You should start by getting an overflow tank from the junkyard for a few reasons
-when the engine is hot the cap can let water out to relieve pressure which goes into the tank.
-the water coming from overflow outlet or tube could be your leak.

Other than that there are a few hoses around the area of the airbox that either need the hose clamps snugged up and or new pliable rubber hose
Thanks for the input. I'll give it a shot.
is the turbo water cooled?

It's oil and water cooled I believe. . .
are your spark plugs totally white and clean?

All the spark plugs but one look normal. One of them looks like it was covered in coolant. . . .

Sounding like a head gasket. It can happen if you use the engine cleaner additives. The gasket has worn to the coolant channel possibly. Good Luck.
