compressor eliminator OR Gen III 3sgte compressor info - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #80363 7 posts Started by match220
I am looking for information on either what type of compressor is used on a 3sgte after the swap has been done, or where I can find a compressor eliminator bracket/pulley. I tried to use my 5sfe compressor and I realized that it fits but the thermostat housing bumps the compressor. What cooling tubes/compressor work on the car when trying to use the old 5s system with the Gen III 3sgte engine?

3s compressor, 5s lines.

so can i use a gen 2 3s compressor instead of a gen 3 compressor? I know it will mount into the block but are the lines the same?

I don't think the gen2 is the same.

The lines on the 2nd gen compressor are not the same. You can either use a 3rd gen one, or a stock 5sfe one. I'm using my 5sfe one and it works great.

I don't know about that. I have a stock 5sfe comp mounted to a 3rd gen 3s block and my thermostat housing is bumping the edge of the compressor where the radiator hose fits on. It looks like it will almost work, I haven't tried fitting a rad hose yet.

I guess there might be a difference between the 2nd and 3rd gen thermostat housings. it fits fine on my 2nd gen.
