My '00 Special Edition Miata - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #80281 70 posts Started by sunwukongg
So recently I had sold my 6gc(july 21) and bought myself a Miata(July 22). It's an absolute thrill to drive and I just can't get enough of it's handling capabilities. I've thought of getting one for a while, and my brother recently bought one a few weeks ago. After driving his around I had to get myself one as well. So anyway, here's some pictures of my Miata. It's a 2000 Purple(Mahogany Mica) Special edition 6spd Mazda Miata. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! The british green one is my brother's.

It's pretty much stock besides the Enkei RP02's and the Hard Dog Roll Bar.

UPDATE/EDIT: How she currently sits as of February 1, 2012. Got coils installed on January 28, 2012

Nice car, the roll bar makes it like 10x better IMO. The 302 swapped miata that Stacey David built on Gearz was awesome. What are your plans for it?
Very fun cars to drive, and handling is very great. Lol, best comparison to the handling is to that of a go-kart. Although alot to be desired in terms of power, im sure you could add a decent set of headers and exhaust and get some nice power out of it...would be curious to know what your plans are with it as well.

Oh and there is this mean miata here at kadena...has an SR swap, and man that things hauls ass!!

(\__/)(='.'=) This is bunny. Copy and paste bunny into your(")_(") signature to help him gain world domination.
Great looking Miata. I sold my Celica to get into a Miata as well. The rollbar makes all the difference, be glad yours was already in the car bc they are a pain to install.

Idk how the NB seats are versus the NA seats, but I highly recommend the Lotus Elise seat conversion.

Here's my current:

nice man! i was originally aiming for an NA as well but i then grew very fond of the NB look because my brother got one. haha. my brother's seats are different from mine. i believe i have the 01+ NB seats. the 99-00 NB's had some differences. are you on clubroadster?

haha agreed. and headers, intake, and exhaust would only pull it up to around 150hp to 160 i believe..

the only plans i have for it right now is to get some nice low offset wheels and drop it at least 2" on some megan ez street coils. i just want it to be nice for dd and occasional track.

Both use double wishbones, shocks and springs, as far as I'm aware.

Nice Miata Neil. thumbsup.gif

Look into Raceland coilovers. Opinions are mixed, but some say they're quality. I'd give them a chance.

Mine is on Racelands, and I gotta say for a dirt cheap set of coilovers they really aren't bad. A hell of a lot better than blown out stock suspension. I like them better than the Tokico Blue setup I had on my 1st NA. I do plan on replacing them in a year or 2 when the car is going to go from DD to weekend warrior, but the whole car will be under the knife at that point for some big updates.

Obviously if you want to do some serious track racing or something then go with Tein, or at least Megan. But if your car is 90% DD with the occasional weekend romp they're great.

Oh and yes I just joined clubroadster, they haven't even unlocked my account to start posting yet. Also on miata.net. brianf408 on both.

Yours has the 6 speed, so it also has the Torsen LSD in the rear right? If not, I'd recommend looking into a Torsen diff for your car, I literally can't get mine to break traction in a corner. I'll punch it thinking the back end will break loose and it just grips more and more. My open-diff 91 couldn't hold a candle to it.

Again, threads like these continue to feed my want for a '92 or '93 silverstone NA.

GET IT
Sweet ride!
I can't wait to get a few laps in with my buddies na, I've been helping him build into into a spec racer. If you think that little cage is a pita to install try fitting and welding a full cage it isn't the easiest task in the world, but safety is key.
Car needs to get stripped, coils, race seats and to be raced hard.

some updates & a video of me doing donuts smile.gif

new wheels. Tire Rack C1's 15x8 +20 offset running 195/50/15(yes they're a bit stretched.)

Reason for edit: video removed, do not add
proper tires on an 8 inch wide rim would be 235mm wide. good choice for rims.

doing donuts on your brand new tires??!!

BRG for yellow...why? SBY wasn't even a special color for the NB, get a SBY '92 NA for that.

this is the vivid yellow model. it's a rare yellow and only 239 of them were made in the world. it's different from blazing yellow and sunburst yellow. the NB only came with blazing yellow and vivid yellow. blazing is the mass produced yellow model. the vivid came from a special online promotion. plus yellow is my bro's favorite color. lol

haha damn man, lightweight + turbo = beast
So here is a question for you guys. Did the first gen Miata's come with rear coilovers? My friends mom has one and she's complaining about the ride, something about the shocks being dead (I didn't feel it at all. Felt fine to me and when you push on the car, it's firm.) and I checked out the rear, they're coilovers.

Nope, double wishbones and shocks at all four corners.

I've noticed often times people misuse the term coilovers. Many times they are a Mcpherson strut with an adjustable spring it all comes down to where the strut is mounted to.
