Changing tranny Oil - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #79448 6 posts Started by m2736185
My gears have been shifting a little hard so I thought I would finally get around to changing my tranny fluid. I open the plug....and a drop comes out..ha I thought there was no tranny fluid in there then I realized that was the fill plug. So i found the drain at the bottom, but I cant get my airgun in there and I think I might have stripped it.

its a 24MM nut. use a standard 24MM 1/2 drive socket and remove it. never use air tools on oil plugs

Don't over torque it when you put the bolt back on. Chances are the shop or wherever you had it done last over torqued the **** out of it, happened to mine first time I changed my tranny fluid and made it a pain to get off (nearly stripped mine). I'm not 100% but iirc that particular drain bolt is about 50 ft/lbs.
