if the flywheel is lights, the engine can rev up easier, making the engine more efficient and when the engine is more efficient it transmitts the power to the tranny.

Is it possible to install ones' self or do it by shop? I imagine it would cost a pretty penny. Oh, same for underdrive pulleys. What do those do?.....oh, oh, oh, and cam gears. What do those do? or can someone send me a link to see how these work and what they do. Instead of explaining. Sorry for all these questions fellas.

you can install anything yourself if you have the tools and knowledge.

a shop will charge atleast a couple 100 dollars

underdrive pully turns the accessories less than the stock crank pulley, kinda does the same thing as the lightened flywheel. less stuff to turn so the power is sent to the tranny.

cam gears allow for easier adjustment of the cam timing, toyota F heads have 2 cams but only one cam gear.

My old lincoln had a stone cross hanggin, but i got a new one for my celi. I got a cross for my gf too, i dont know why i do this tho. I dont have a reason, i just feel protected.

I've also heard that with flywheels, you loose some drivability. Along with revving up quicker, it also will rev down quicker. As I have no first-hand experience, I could be wrong, but I take this to mean that you will feel a sudden holding back when you let go of the gas in a lower gear.

cant confirm or deny it... but thats kinda a good thing if you use downshifting for slowing? Cant be to a point at which its hard on the car or not so many people would use them.. but once again, any first hand experience?

think of your stock flywheel as a fat lady in a shopping cart... and a lightened one as an infant in a shopping cart.

now imagine pushing them up a hill and then back down the other side.. what is gonna happen?

it gonna take alot more work to get the fat lady up that hill... and it gonna take longer to slow her down on the other side..

thats kinda how you transmission works... and it is very important that your transmission works as smoothly and quickly and with as little resistance to it as possible.

your transmission is the single biggest robber of HP in your car - thats why there is a differnce between crank HP and wheel HP.. the difference (which is always a loss to the transmission) is the amont of power lossed in the transmission.... the less your transmission has to work the less power you loss when its transfered to the ground.

so you really dont actually gain HP with things like lightened flywheels and underdrive pulleys...your more just "freeing" up HP that you are lossing.

Man, that cleared the fog like crazy. So for stock US spec GT......what would be a good estimate for hp at the wheel?? I'd guess 100, or is it too much robbage?

No telling the Hp numbers its all different, mods, engine age, and if the motor was ragged. I have a GT automatic, If I had a manual the first mod I would have done would most likeley be the Flywheel,Clutch, pulley then...intake, exhuast etc etc

By the way I have a unorthodox lightweight underdrive pulley, yea you can fell the difference. Its nothing crazy but its noticeable.

im thinking about buying me both underdrive and overdrive crank pulleys...so this really helped ill let you know how it goes when i get it
