Since I can't find any ST205 short shifter, except for the TRD. I'm looking for an OEm shifter that I will cut myself without using my original, in case I screw up!

I'm looking for the shifter stick only if possible...

Hey man! I found out a couple of months ago that pretty much any 7th gen short shifter will work. There's a sticky somewhere detailing what to do. I bought a $17 short shifter for a 7th gen on ebay, and it's been working just fine for me! I'd suggest just doing that if you're looking for cost effectiveness and ease of installation!

Will it fit an ST205 JDM ? I've been looking around and I get yes and no's...so I don't know where to throw myself anymore frown.gif

In short..NO. I have tried installing a 7th gen short shifter for my JDM ST205. It doesn't work.

After spending so much time trying to pry those stupid clips off (step 6)...taking out the center console, trim under the steering wheel, glove compartment all to get more room to pound out those pins (step 9)...and finally taking out the shifter...I noticed that the short shifter won't work because the shifting assembly is different (arggg mad.gif )...so i put it allll back together and called it a day....on the bright side I wasn't left with any extra/missing screws and I learned how the shifting mechanism works....sigh....

Any suggestions for short shifters for JDM GT-Fours?

the 7th gen shifter does work. i have one in my 94 st205. its not a perfect match but it works. there is a little bit of play in the shifter itself because the main pivot ball is slightly smaller and the other to balls are a little bit smaller but it does work. when you take it apart the white loop thing that goes around part of the assembly from top to bottom you dont need it and you cant use it cuz there is no holes for it on the 7th gen. all in all it works and shifts great.

the white plastic thing is where i got stuck...you can't attach it since there are no holes for it like you said, but without it...how can you feel the gates?...isn't it needed (from what I can see) to guide your shifter so it pushes the thing to make it go over the notches so you can feel that you are in the right gear? lol with bad terminology that just sounds confusing...haha

you feel the click either way. i have the brass shifter bushings and a weighted shift knob and feels better then ever.

and there's no lose or grinding? it's accurate?

the white piece has nothing to do with the shift pattern / layout. The US Celica's don't have them, and you don't need them

that what ive been trying to tell everyone lol. yes it is a little bit loose but it is because the main pivot ball is slightly smaller but it doesnt bother. (its only in the shifter itself)
