ive searched for a write up and couldnt find one...i got into an accident going 25 and both airbags went off could someone lead me to a write up or a list of instructions

you literally have to pull off that side of the dash, it seems hard, but it's not as bad as it may seem

Ok - I search for WEEKS on here and celicatech and anywhere else I could find, and no-body has ANYTHING on doing the airbags. ( I hit a deer at 72 and the ole' girl survived beautifully) I plan on doing a write up sometime soon as I put my car back together this weekend and posting it in both places. But you Must take the dash off. Most other cars allow the airbag to come out of the top. For us, it goes like this.... 1) remove center console and stereo and glove box. 2)remove trim on A-arm and remove the plastic cover by the passenger foot area(plastic nut ) for easier access, you must also take apart the drivers side, trust me it'll save you in the long run because to put the new bags it you MUST do this to get clearance. there are several bolts holding multiple plastic covers on. You should also disconnect the fuse box from the plastic. undo the screws holding your guages to the dash as well. There are also bolts INSIDE of two of the airvents. small vent on passenger side, large vent on drivers side (the covers just pull off) then just yank the dash off, it requires some force. I recommend doing the drivers side first as the dash will get in your way. The the passenger side bolts for the airbag should also be undone before removing the dash. You'll see two big bolts holding it in once you remove the air bag, but there are 4 more on the side of the bag near the dash. They are 10mm. the two on the right can be accessed form underneath, but the two closest to the center are more easily accessed if you put on your socket through the center and then attach extensions and knuckles as required to get out the bottom.
Once that it done and the dash is pulled off, you should see the "duct" work for the defrost and a/c in behind it. You MUST remove the smaller piece because there are 3 bolts holding the trap door to the back of the bag via the mesh I'm sure you've seen when you put the new ones back in, you'll need to do this because the door must go in AFTER you have the bag bolted up to the dash ( not the support bar) then the connecting plate for the trap door can be slid down the back and re-attached. If yo have any questions PM me, I've just taken the broke ones out of my car and good ones out of a parts car. so I have a pretty good idea how they need to go back in. Hopefully this is a start that isn't too late. Regards

you don't have to remove the whole dash, i replaced mine just by semi pulling out the passenger side. when you put the dash back in, dont slam it because there are 5 clips in the front that go into the firewall and your dash will droop if one breaks, esp the middle one

I guess to each their own - did you have to replace the sensors that tripped the bag? or just the bags and the control module... Cause I hooked everything up, but a new sensor and the airbag light is still on. Thinking about replacing the sensor too, but not sure if it's necessary.

i had to remove all the bolts in the dash but didnt have to take it all the way off but thanks everyone for the help greatly appreciate it

I've been told that once the airbag blows, you must replace the module under the console too.

yeah, I've replaced the air bags and the control module under the console, but I'm curious about the actual sensor that tripped the bag.

The ones on the crash bar need to be replaced. Once the airbags go off, you have to replace everything in the system (except the wiring) lol

ok, Thanks!- but by crash bar, do you mean the ones mounted to the core support in the front of the car? aka, the bar that supports the A/C condenser and the radiator?
