Advantages of disk brakes vs drum brakes - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #78778 5 posts Started by dariodudes
just wondering what the big differences are and if theres any advantage to disk brakes
thanks
drum brakes tend to fade with heat buildup. disk brakes is the opposite, exposed to outside error, just like your front brakes. better cooling resulting in better braking performance, just like most cars today that have all wheel disk brakes. Plus there are aftermarket performance replacements. basically sucks when truely performing the vehicle to have drums, they do not brake as good because of this weakness.

disc brakes have better overall braking torque performance and also have braking performance that is more consistent with wear.
the only reason drums are being used is to minimize costs.
