KYB strut mounts - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #78312 7 posts Started by Euphoria
Hey, I'm in need of new strut mounts but heard bad things about KYB strut mounts which sucks because they are the easiest and cheapest option for me, Toyota wants a fortune and I don't where I can get any other brands.

So does anyone know anything about KYB strut mounts?

thanks.
Yeah I actually have those on my celica. Bought it from Tirerack when I bought my rotors and pads for my car. So far so good, and from comparison its no different from the OEM. I'd say go for it.

Thanks mate, they build descent struts so I can't see how the mounts would be any worse tongue.gif.
All 8 KYB strut mounts I used on the Celica's in the past, I never had a problem with any of them. It may not be necessary, but if you're going to reuse the bearings, I would suggest opening them up and cleaning them out. I soaked them in gasoline to remove all the old grease (and dirt and anything else in there) from the ball bearings, then repacked them with plenty of wheel bearing grease. Worked great smile.gif
I'm actually using KYB strut mounts right now with Tien S-techs and GR2 struts, No issues at all. The only bad thing i've heard about these mounts is that they are slightly taller than OEM but i can't confirm if this is true or not.
Thanks for the replies! Taller will be better, my front could do with some lifting...or my back could so with some lowering lol.
They are slightly taller than the original OEM mounts.
The current mounts the Toyota is producing are exactly like the KYB mounts.
So if you have the original moutns on your car, make sure you replace both sides or your car may site lopsided, but the differences is only noticable if you measure the fender height from the ground.
Its not gunna make a whole lot of a difference in ride height, visually.
TRDproven gave me this information in this thread cause I had similar questions: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...mp;#entry915115
