Doesn't matter. Looks BOSS. End of story.

Thinks I'm going to go back to black wheels. Who thinks so?
The plastidip texture didn't come out the best, and they are constantly filthy, and I'd like clean wheels again 😃

So that's the plan, unless I decide to bite the bullet and get them powder coated white or a dark silver color.

Anyway, got some time off these next weeks, what should I do to the car? Haha.

Eventually you should powdercoat them white, they look way too good on there.

I'm torn between them. I see old photos I've taken and think, god it looked sweet on the black... Than keep flicking and get tothe white wheel photos, and like that just as much >< they're just so dirty. HAha

I think the white stands out a lot more (obviously) and in your case it's a good thing.

The black sort of highlights the puny stock brakes.

I was wondering why I hadn't received any email notifications of updates on your thread since posting this... Before realizing that I typed this all up on my iPad and didn't copy it across to 6GC... D'oh tongue.gif

Hey Tim!

Well, this has taken a long time to actually post here, but don't worry I have been keeping tabs on it for a while tongue.gif

First of all it has to be said (And I'm sure that you are getting sick of hearing this by now) that your car is my favorite pre-face on this site!

Now, the problem is that I now can't make up my mind about what looks best tongue.gif You see, for whatever reason, I passionately HATE black wheels... So when you said you were going black I was very disappointed, but once you got the red lug nuts and the red pin striping it has grown on me... A lot tongue.gif I probably still would have gone silver wheels (I love the design you went for btw), but I don't mind them as they are ATM (which is a BIG thing for me tongue.gif).

In saying all of this, I had thought that my favorite part of your build was when you had euro front splitters with the silver wheels, but I re-read the whole progress thread in preparation for this post and whilst I still really like that look, I like the SSIII on preface look a lot too. It is nice to see somebody actually making an awesome looking preface rather that just swapping it out. So now your awesomeness is just getting the better of me and I no longer know what I think tongue.gif

Now the biggest hero out of this thread is your breathtakingly amazing photographic techniques (and a decent slab of photoshop too tongue.gif), however you haven't told us what you shoot with! I demand a full list! tongue.gif I'm into photography too, but have gone for studio gear (which I hardly use tongue.gif) over the car stuff. I can work out many of the techniques you have used, but I think it would be awesome to see some behind the camera shots at some point in the future too! smile.gif

Now this post isn't as big as I thought it would be... Probably mostly because I summed up the whole thing to its just amazing; simple tongue.gif

Keep up the great work and I will definitely be keeping tabs on your progress from here on in smile.gif

Nice post! Haha. But cheers man!
I've enjoyed where I've started, came from and am at today.
I'll probably end up painting or going another set if wheels one day:p

But for now, I'm happy I can have a nice clean car again!

Anyway,
Behind the scenes shots, as in before/after post processing, or for some of the rolling shots etc?
Half of my images are in Flickr, which tells you my EXIF data on the settings I've used.

But for reference, here's my gear (starting gear that I haven't upgraded yet haha)
Body: Canon 500D (Rebel T1i)
Main lens: Canon 17-85mm EFS 1:4-5.6 IS USDM (Polarizer Filter, ND Filter)
Second lens: Canon 50mm EF 1:1.8
Zoom lens: Tamron 70-300mm Tele-Macro 1:4-5.6 LD Di
Metz 36 AF-5 Flash
Manfrotto tripod
Manfrotto suction mounts/magic arm and custom rig.

Programs:
Photoshop CS4
Photomatix HDR

All that gear is pretty much bottom of the line started slr gear I got a few years ago, yet to upgrade.

Haha, and that is the most important thing (you being happy with your car) smile.gif

I was meaning like a cell phone pic from behind the camera actually showing how the rigging is set up, because I dare say it would look pretty cool tongue.gif

I will need to check out your Flickr, but I forgot that was another bone I wanted to pick with you, you have heaps of dead Flickr links in the first few pages of your thread tongue.gif

Yay - Canon person! biggrin.gif

And I certainly don't have any excuse now; I started with a Canon 50D and 17-85 but now I have;

Body: Canon 7D
Primary Lens: Canon 17-55mm 2.8 IS USM
Prime: Canon 60mm 2.8 USM Macro (with 50mm 1.8 back up)
Telephoto: Canon 70-200mm f4L USM (The cheap one tongue.gif)
Ultra-Wide: Canon 10-22mm USM.

Canon 580EX Speedlite Flash
Canon 420EX Speedlite Flash
Canon ST-E2 Wireless Flash Transmitter

Manfrotto Tripod (Old style)

1.5m light cube for product photography.

6x3m backdrop stand with a few backdrops and a couple of various reflectors and light umbrellas.

I used to be really really into it but since I started uni last year I lost a bit of interest in it... I still want to get out there and take photos, but I just don't have any inspiration on what yo do, or time to find it tongue.gif I wouldn't mind doing some proper car stuff like you do smile.gif

Oh thanks for letting me know, I'll try fix them all up soon, I went on a mid delete spree of 6gc before haha.
Your gear sounds sweet, I've been starting to get into studio stuff like thy aswell, I just haven't had the money to throw at it, but am still very interested. If you ever upgrade your stuff, let me know wink.gif.

Next time I do some rolling shots, I'll snap some shots for you, other than that I'm usually just point and clicking, than post production...haven't tried much lighting techniques yet.

I'm still on holidays atm, but next week I'm doing a good wash/wax and might get some new photos of my back to black wheels. tongue.gif I will most likely powder coat them when I need new tyres (which is soon for the rear, making bad camber noises)

|Flickr|Facebook|Tumblr|Progress...|

Hehe, well to let you in on a little secret the only reason I have all of that gear is because I was so interested in getting my camera gear when I was younger and I was completely broke that I ended up starting a small business buying and selling second hand photographic equipment (Proceeds from this bought my Celica in the first place!) but now I really just keep going to get myself bargains... It is entirely possible that I have spent less than you have tongue.gif In saying that, if you are ever looking out for any bits and pieces shoot us an email and I'll keep an eye out for you.

We might need to trade some secrets, me with lighting, you with post production tongue.gif

And hope you're enjoying your holiday smile.gif BTW, I assumed you were flying up? Because your slammed Celica doesn't really sound like the road trip type (At its current ride height anyway tongue.gif).

And you should see if you can go a polished silver look, like that photoshop you did of the rims before you bought them... that looked S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G! tongue.gif

SOLD :( 1997 ST204 Celica ZR ----->See it here on 6GC!2013 October Celica of the Month XDNow: '00 NB8B Mazda MX5 ----->See it here in off topic!

BTW, when / how did you paint your brake calipers red? Just some high temp. paint from Bunnings? I never really cared on mine, but with the new wheels you can actually see them, so they must be red! tongue.gif

SOLD :( 1997 ST204 Celica ZR ----->See it here on 6GC!2013 October Celica of the Month XDNow: '00 NB8B Mazda MX5 ----->See it here in off topic!
Yeah I have been considering like an Enkei RPF01 type color for them!
Have you seen the thread I started making about photoshop? Haha

And my calipers was from any auto place around you, Autobarn, super cheap. They have 'caliper' paint which is temp protective.

Camera gear, I just want some clearer photos, a wide angle and maybe a good macro. But I think I want a full frame body first.

I would have drive up here too, if it wasn't going to put over 1000k's on the car, than to be defected up here, haha, I'm used to the bumps.

|Flickr|Facebook|Tumblr|Progress...|
Absolutely love your car Timmy! Thanks for the help when i've asked for it over the past 12 months as well, going to start becoming more active on these forums now that I have my p's and the funds to start modding! wink.gif

I'll let your minds ponder..

I just watched the youtube video for the Pearlizer... looks awesome!!! I would try 3 coats with a metalizer on top tongue.gif But that's just because I like silver wheels tongue.gif

Pretty much what I'm going for. I tried the pearl on top of gunmetal, and on a black metal without a plastisol base... Pretty much the same result, so I'll just do the pearl!

Pearlizer... sounds so dirty.
