REQ: 18" wheels on stock suspension - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #77469 12 posts Started by Mycurse180

Title.

Also, will they be really heavy? Will I regret going with 18's?

I want my car to be light and quick.
it all depends on what brand wheel ie weight, and tire size.. i went with 17x8 tsw wheels and 225/45/17, i do regret getting these wheels, im trying to sell local because i dont want to have a hassle of shipping them. but for my set up its 50 pounds a wheel, so for all 4 wheels that 200 pounds alone

Ouch. I may stay with the stock 15's in that case.
sorry but i would post pics but i dont have 18 and stock suspention, i have 17x8 with tein coilovers
how can rims be 50lbs??

You want to be light and quick? get 16's
You want to be flashy? Get 18's
You want both? Get 17's

Real Deal Rims no matter what size should be light

I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
heres mine.. note the wheel gap. will be lowered soon.

Tsw jarama 17x8 with 235/45/17

Definately quality paintjob. I wouldnt even risk driving it and have stone chips frown.gif Or have it lowered.

Joel, looks like Alas???

Those cant be 18's.........mines make the calipers look tiny, your rim looks smaller O_o

Thanks whatthe, but that gap gets to me everytime i see it.

jon, yup its at alamoana. and these are 18's. im running 225/40/r18 tires. they just look smaller because of the stock height.

I don't have my celi anymore but those are HP Design Wheel HPR-5's 18x8 +38
If I am remembering correctly I was running 225/40/18 tires.. They rubbed occasionally
when I'd hit a bump but it was rubbing the inside plastic wheel wells, didn't really wear
the tires down or anything. The main problem with running that size wheel on a stock
suspension is you are putting a lot of stress on worn struts and shocks, it really wasn't
the safest thing to do at all, but it did look damn good. I would say that if you are going
to continue to run a stock suspension just get new struts at least KYB's will do the trick.
If you are going to honestly boost your car don't get 18's, if you're looking for style and
looks do it. I didn't really notice any difference with speed or anything. If you run the
same size wheel/tire combo I did your speedo will be off some, like 4mph maybe. Any
questions feel free to PM me
