I'm new to toyota motors and basically motors in general but i need to clean my valve cover and before i mess anything up can someone explain how to get it off i know you need to take out the spark plug wires but i cant find the bolts lol dumb i know but will someone explain the process
the round area (the part your plugs go down in) is actually what holds the valve cover down. when you take your wires off, the top isnt all the way round, there should be 2 flat side so you can loosen them up. i will look for a picture to help you out.

Don't use a crescent wrench. It should be a 30mm socket.

socket. works so much better!
yes its a 30MM socket. and if you ahve never done it before, you should replace the gasket. the sealant mentioned above is called FIPG and you only need a tiny bit. its very expensive for a tube of it so you might skip it. its not going to hurt you if you dont use it
