winter driving in a celi isn't too bad.
Just make sure you have good tires LOL.
I've been driving in the cold wisconsin winters for 4-5 years and I have no problems.
We measure our snow in FT not INCHES

as long as you have good all season tires, you'll be fine, mike.
just drive slower, and give pleanty of room between cars.
the celica isnt too bad at all in the snow, till you lower it and put wider summer tires on it, then it dont move.

it helps to use engine braking or engine compression in conjunction with lightly using the brakes to avoid slipping over a patch of ice.
surprisingly the car is good in snow imo. it handles well through turns in the sense that the nose of the car stays pointing in the right direction (in most cases) and doesn't spin out unlike rwd cars.

I thought the celica did awesome in the snow last year, im running 205's, only problem i had was stopping lol, but it did well, i even had it through 6 inches of snow, always started in second gear though, not sure about this year, little lower now so we will see

I've always been a fan of the Celica during the winter, but like has been said make sure your tires are good. Any car with good tires will get you around though, people who say a certain car sucks in the snow either doesn't know how to drive or doesn't have good tires on it.
Tidbit of info if you don't know already. Make sure your rear tires are the ones with more tread (if they aren't all evenly worn). It may seem like you want more on the front tires to grip, but the rears are what determines your line of travel. If you have tires with less tread on the rear then the rear will drift around. I tried once when I heard this in tech-school because I didn't believe it, it was like driving with 2 slicks on the back the ass-end slid all over the place.

celicas are really good in the snow. but bc they are so light, you run into the same problem u have with rain: they handle great at lower speeds. if u try to fly down a road full of slush, ur car will get raped by the tracks left by other vehicles. like azian said, use engine break if u can. also do not try to slide around corners if u are not experienced with this yet. bc if u do u will slide into a tree or something like i did when i was 16
Good thing is I had my tires replaced about 2k ago so they are pretty much brand new 
I'll just take it easy and stay back from other cars.
Never heard of it before, but engine braking is?....
Also, I'm just still scared to drive in the snow because of my first accident in the Acura when I lost control going around a corner doing 20mph. It wasn't sharp either, but the rear-end just went out on me. The only reason it was so bad is the fact that I tried to correct it, but kept over correcting, and I finally got stuck in a slide. I picked up speed as I was swerving because I was trying to power out a little, but I over did it. When I got stuck in the slide, I floored it because I was trying to go back the other way, but it just stayed. And boom. Telephone pole whack to the front end
I'll just take it easy and stay back from other cars.

i use dunlop's studless winter tires. they work very well!

i have the dunlop direzza tires, they have great traction in the rain and on dry pavement!
just have to find out how well they are in the snow now lol

I might be wrong but direnza aren't winter tires... So, they won't do a good job if there's alot of snow and ice where you live. I personally use toyo observe go2 plus and they are great for city driving, cause they're more ice tores than snow tires.. But overall, i just love those tires compared to anything i drove before. If i can give you only one advice, if you wanna do great in winter driving, a good set of WINTER tires is essential, or youre gonna end up having trouble in a curve at only 20mph...

celi is greattt in the snow! (with decent tires obviously)
My driveway...is a parking lot, and me and my cousin screw around in it all the time, hard a hard time making the celi loose control (when i was trying to lol)

very true. if you were to use them as an all year tire they would be ok, just the life of them in the hot summer would be nasty! but otherwise they are the best winter tires i have had on the car!

Last snow season i didn't have any money to replace my tires so i ended up driving on "slicks". To my surprise, the celica still handled better than i had expected. This year im driving on Kuhmo ectsa asx all seasons and havent seen a snow flake yet.
yea appleton probably hasnt seen snow yet, but my mom called and said that they were getting some snow in menominee, but it was sticken to the ground.

It was 60* the other day, lol. Today its around mid 50's. This weather is nuts this time of the year.
Up here, snow tires during winter is a law. Plus, with all this amount of snow (and ice) we get every year, it's funny to hear people talking about driving with all season tires.

I mean the tires I have are pretty much brand new, maybe like 2k top on them. I'm not going to buy another set of tires when I just bought brand new ones. It'll just be a waste of my money and I need to save for other things right now. It's not like I'm going to go around a 60 degree turn going 40mph. I'm still scared sh!tless to drive in the snow cause of my accident last winter
you should be fine as long as you take your time and be very careful about everything.

I wouldn't be doing much more than 40 mph period on summer tires in the snow. When I had my WRX we got a freak early snow storm while I was at work and I still had my summer tires on the car. Thought that with all-wheel-drive I'd be fine, but that thing was all over the road, even at 20-30 mph. So be very careful, and don't be surprised if you get stuck.
I'd say to keep your eyes open on craigslist for someone parting a car out with all seasons or snow tires/wheels, or for a cheap deal. At least in my area a lot of people seem to be clearing their garages out before winter.

I'll keep a look out for something on craigslist, but I'm not going to be going over 35mph in the snow. I believe I had summer tires on my Acura, but it was my mistake for going a little too fast around a corner
