I have an ST, but the auto parts store asked if i had ABS or not? how do I tell?
I searched the forum for bit but found nothing frown.gif

On the passenger side of your engine bay, is there a unit right next to the power steering reservoir like the one in the picture shown below:

on mine, when you turn the key the abs light comes up on the dash for a few seconds.

It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road.Celica: The name is derived from the Spanish word for "heavenly" or "celestial".Back-2-Back July COTM 15&16
wait did the ST's even come with ABS? or was it only an option on the GT's?
you know im not sure...my friend with an st doesnt have it so i have no idea.. i would say the best way to find out is pop the hood or look for the abs light.

Yeah, if you dont have the actuator its pretty safe to assume that you do not have it.
yeah I dont have whatever that box is, as far as I have ever seen. And Ive nver seen an abs light, so is it safe to assume I dont have it?
Just wondering for a new master, because there is a few different options, but the auto place didnt seem to know much more than I could find on my own lol.
thanks for the quick help smile.gif
if you dont have that box, then you dont have ABS at all. Glad to see that the picture helped!
The ABS for a 7AFE might be somewhere else because the power steering reservoir for mine is in the back kind of behind the block. Not like in that picture.

even if the box were in a different place, all of the lines would need to go into it right?
I looked at where all my brake lines go off the master, and they go in different directions, not seeming to meet anywhere (i assume they would have to meet at the "box" for abs right?

Are you talking about those metal lines on the passenger side?

Then if there's metal lines along the passenger side, you've got ABS right? Nothing else has metal lines?

it looks like the box in the pic above. the one in the middle of the power st. and window wash. i think the lines you are talking about are for the air con. dont quote me on that though.

I dont have abs, looked for the box and found nothing, turned the key, and no abs light.
this isnt my dd, but i'm trying to replace like everything possible. I got a new master, and 2 new calipers (and pads). bench bled the master and then bled the brakes from furthest to closest...
but they stillll! feel mushy frown.gif (I think they feel a little better than before the new master, but not by much at all)
Any ideas?
Im going to bleed them again tomorrow when its bright out, but I just dont know what else could be wrong?
As far as i can tell there are no leaks in the system. I left it over night with paper under it, and actually pressed the brakes a few different times to see if it would force any fluid out...And no fluid or wet signs were on the floor or the wheels after a day. So I dont think there is a leak? Is it possible to have a small enough leak where fluid doesnt get out, but air can get in?

thanks again for any help, need the basics to be functional before I can really get "into" the car frown.gif
I has no ABS either D:

Ok, I believe a mod lol. I will bleed them once again in the morning (wish I had a vacuum bleeder:()
I also got new rear shoes, so there must be air still in the lines, this has turned into a muchhhhh! bigger process than I ever! couldh'v imagined frown.gif lol
Just as an info, i have an ST and it has ABS and it is in the exact same place as for the GT's and GTS. I know you found out yours didn't have it but just tought some of you guys would like to know...
