Help
Newbie here, i want to know if the st205 GT4 front rotor and caliper can fit on a st202 with strut suspension.

Thanks
Two answers for you. Firstly, the rotor will fit just fine. But the calipers will not work. I have tried this before and the problem is that, on the GTFOUR the threads for the caliper are on the steering knuckle.. On the ST202, the threads are on the caliper. What i did once in your situation, was use nuts and bolts. Unfortunaly that didnt work as well because the bolts would come loose causeing a dangerous situation. I would advise not to do this.

Now you might be able to do some sort of drill/tap thing, or maybe make a bracket. Anywho, i hope this helps.

Since you ST202 uses superstrut, you might be able to use other GT4 parts like the knuckle to mount the brakets more easier

best to get into contact with this guy VV (He's a member on here aswell, but can't remember his user name)

@3waystunna... So the rotor is fine. Did the caliper line up correct? If so, all I have to do is tap threads into the steering knuckle of the st202 and I should be fine. Keep in mind that I am moving from super strut to strut suspension.
Thanks guys for the help.

What do you mean by that? Are you moving from superstrut to McPhersonstrut?

If you stay with the superstrut, then you simply have to tap thread in de st202 hubknuckles and drill out the st205 caliper mounting holes so the bolt goes straight through

I did it that way and it works perfectly!

Yes I am replacing the superstrut with mcpherson strut. The 202 suspension that I have is mcpherson strut.
ok, no matter how I try I come out looking like the bad guy.

you asked this same question on this thread

READ HERE !!!

and I guess the answer is pretty clear, if you had questions about using ST205 disc brakes, you could have asked on the same thread to keep information in one place.

to answer that.

yes ST205 disc will fit, but there are some unclear issues, which " may " be due to small differences on knuckles depending on the year.

I was able to bolt on the caliper using Stock St205 disc with no modification to the disc, the 3mm spacer was still required to avoid contact with the ball joint. and there were no issues with this, but using a different knuckle the disc was just a hair too big, I was able to bolt the caliper down, but once bolted down, the disc wouldn't be able to spin freely, which suggest that at least 3 mm have to be grinded off from the radious of the disc ( 6 mm from total diameter )

the reason why I'm still using Cadillac catera disc is because they are easy to get, and very affordable, the cost of ST205 disc + shipping from Europe / Asia is not worthy to me.

just in case

I completed this brake conversion over a year ago, and I drive my car every single day ( 90 miles round trip ) so I can say that this has been tested tongue.gif

In that case you'll have to do some more work to make the st205 calipers fit.
Just use the search button to find all the info you'll need. I believe there's a How-to in the stickies.
