Who has one or had driven one before?

thinking of getting one in replacement of my 6th gen.

are the 6th gen trunk space bigger or wider than the 7th gen?

not really sure. i never cared to notice. i have a friend with a 2000 gts. aim to get a 2000-2002. apparently the later models (2003-2005) are not as friendly to modify... check out newcelica.org!

im still researching. looking for a white one 2000-2001. '02 models it doesnt matter but they changed the red line. i also like the pre-face lift.

does your friend get good gas mileage on it? i really want an 02-03 impreza wrx but i doubt it if it can get the same gas mileage as the 6th gen. i get over 30 mpg on the 6th gen if im drving @ 60 on cruise ctrl.

I have a good friend that has a 2000 GT-S. It's a fun car. The trunk doesn't look as big to me, but it can't be much smaller. His is an auto. It's a quick-revving car, very spirited, but lacks the torque of a 6th gen GT manual, so his car just never feels fast to me. I know it's definitely quicker, but it never feels like it. I am personally not a fan of the interior at all. Would I own one? Simply put, I had several opportunities and stayed away.

lacks torque huh. 5s has like 10 more lbs-ft of torque compared to the 2zz. is that a big difference? lets say that both cars are going up on a steep hill at the same speed, the engine of car that has more torque is less stressed because it doesn't need to rev high or make it work harder?

so richee, what are the reasons why you stayed away?

we test drove one several years ago.
it was boring till 5100rpm, till the VVTI or whatever the hell its called kicked in.
liked the seats, and wheel, and not much else on the inside.

manny i agree with you on the seats. they are really nice. i installed the 7gc seats in my 6gc.

yes they do lag in torque a bit. i believe it is like 180 or so hp and something like 130 ft lbs of torque.

they are good cars and are fun. easier to modify than a 6gc as well.

My friend's auto, and I can't stress enough that his auto is my main comparison to my manual GT so it's not really a fair comparison, feels like it would be miles behind my GT on an uphill climb. Would it actually be behind? I can't say. it just feels like it would be.

Styling was a big part of why I stayed away, but the main reason was the overall feel of the car. Step on the gas from a stop and you wonder where the power is. They have no power from a launch at all. After the lift kicks in, it's a lively car, but nobody wants to constantly keep their motor at 6,000 rpm. I wanted a car with power at any rev.

Value for the money, the 7th gen is a great car. Just underpowered and if I'm honest, I can't stand the looks at all. But it has legendary Toyota reliability, over 30 mpg, plenty of fun if you keep it revved up, relatively cheap to buy and insure, as practical as any car with 2 doors can be, and a lot of people love the styling. You might contact bitter. He has one.

I have a GT auto and I get around 28cit/33-35hwy. I haven't really had any problems with mine and its got 103k. I personally love the style inside and out and have been thinking about getting a GTS later on. The 6spd transmission is pretty cool, I'm sure you wouldn't be dissapointed with it, I don't mind my auto personally I get sick of driving stick every day in sothern CA, but if you're getting rid of your 6th gen I would get it in manual. I haven driven them both in Auto and Manual. OF course Manual is much more fun and powerful but if you commute alot in traffic, the auto isn't that bad. If you are going to turbo it, a GT 1zz model takes a turbo set up easier than a GTS model 2zz.

I will try to test drive a gt-s today. I crashed my celi in the rain last Wednesday and I'm not even a week here in NorCal which sucks.

I only driven them to do oil changes and tire rotations on. But from what I thought when I sad in it, is that it isn't so bad. Oh wait, I was actually passenger in one. It feels kinda cozy if you don't mind being in a small area. Some of us can be cozy in a small area, so that is what I mean. I think the car is most certainly a Celica. Something to tune up, very little inside, made to be fun to drive.
