I have a greddy sp1 exhaust system installed several yrs ago. I want to silence the thing because it's embarassing to have a slow car and loud noise.

What is your current setup? Just SP1 muffler or did you do a whole catback?
Had the same noise problem on my fujitsubo setup with 2.5' pipes from front to back with a 2.5' resonator.i just fit in another resonator(this one is 2') to kill the sound a bit.the car also got quick on throttle response with an increase in low-end torque.though it puts down a bit of top-end power but it's more effective in saving fuel too.
