haha yeah like 3/4 of a gallon tongue.gif... but as long as I take my time with the sanding, and go over it again, it should be good by tomorrow night, then the nextday sand the car down..then the next...paint biggrin.gif

One thing though man, I noticed you're using cardboard for your resin - I would advise against doing that. Cardboard absorbs important parts of the resin and can result in a lesser adherance...learned this from a youtube video from Butler Community College. Although they were talking about body filler, I imagine the same would apply to fiberglass resin.

I used a piece of laminated bathroom tile - had cardboard backing but that wasn't the side I was using lol.

Looks good otherwise, I'm a tad iffy on those fender vents though.
Not gunna lie, the side skirts are looking better than i was expecting, Im curious to see the end result.
Are you gunna have to get spacers on the rear to make the wheel look less sucked in? since the skirts make it look wider.

Thankk you smile.gif lol its comin along
I have ideas to make the car alot lower, so I may get a "wide fender flare" and mold it in, in the near future for the rear. (aj did it, and it made it look alot better since everything was out more)

And I wasnt mixing the fiberglass on cardboard, I mixed that in a bunch of plastic containers, although I did mix the bondo on the cardboard... but for the most part the cardboard is not "porous" like it would normally be because it has a bunch of old layers of praypaint

Ill keep the updates coming, as the progress gets further smile.gif and then it will be time to update the paint thread biggrin.gif (may start painting wends)

So my car has been moved to my uncles garage, after weeks of helping him work on his camper to get it out of there! so i could move in smile.gif

So using a bigger compressor helped alot with the sanding (I only have a small one that you have to sand for like a min then wait for the compressor to fill, ect) But for the most part if had to be hand sanded..and lets just say my arm is a bittt tired tongue.gif

But alot of it had to be hand sanded, applied like 3 skim coats of bondo, on top of what i already had, sanding in between, and the body lines are finally starting to look good! biggrin.gif
After sanding allllllllll day it was nice to see im almost done! need to apply one more coat I think and and get another thing of glazing putty and a little more sanding, and it should be done biggrin.gif The front fender flares are almost flush now, which is awesome.
Took some pics, but the lighting is not that bright so my phone couldnt capture what it looks like. (none of these pics are from the end of the day, looks a little better now)

It doesnt look bad but those fender vents throw ALL of your body lines off. If they werent there it would look alot better. Good progress tho. Cant wait to see it painted. But i think you should take those vents off.

Cut for the "vent" (vent doesnt actually do anything, i covered it in the back)

if the vent doesnt actually work...then why not just cut the back of the vent on the side skirt so it fits flush to the body vs cutting a whole in ur car? jw .. maybe im wrong ... not my style but dont let anyone tell u different from wat u like my dude

st205 powered ss3 coupe
with the inside of the vent cut (in order to sit even partially flush) it would look funny, I thought about it (its hard to explain how the body lines dont match up) but it woulda taken away from the the look 100%. But i do get if someone ever wanted to do this to their car and planned on ever selling or doing something different i would advise against it, but i dont ever plan on changing it smile.gif

Its almost done smile.gif

and for some reason I like the fender vents... lol almost everyone i talk to doesnt like them, but i do smile.gif

i was like cwm13.gif when you cut into the body at first..... but this is shaping up. props for doing something unique. thumbsup.gif although not my taste, im looking forward to seeing the progress on your next update. smile.gif

keep posting pictures
Thanks for all the support everyone biggrin.gif
So I had a shortened day at the garage cause I have to go work in a few mins, but the front vents are 100% molded, and the lines are a smooth as can be smile.gif (spent alot of time on those today because they are so small, its hard to sand and get it right but I did it smile.gif )
As for the rest of it, I applied 2 more light coats of bondo sanding in between, and i'd say its 75% done smile.gif the lines are reallly looking good, almost like they are supposed to be there biggrin.gif
The way I see it, one more coat and some good sanding, possibly a few runs with the glazing putty, and its all done. The I am sanding the whole car down some more with 180, then 500-600. And possibly painting wends? biggrin.gif
I got some pics, of the finished fender vents, but my phone was dieing so I only have pics of the rest about an hour before i actually finished, it looks a little better, and pics never do anything justice tongue.gif

I'm still not a big fan of the fender vents, but the skirts are like the ugly duckling. I didn't think it was a good idea at first but now I see them shaping up and they're looking better and better with each update. Good work bro. I can't wait to see it painted.

Always cool to make something your own, lookin good so far man.
When the hood was on my car I had the hood pins adjusted very tight to suck up that gap. I also put a piece of plastci under the front bumper at the top where it meets the hood. Between the to things I had the hood closed with no gap. Oh an side shirts look good.
yeah I got the hood pretty close, although none of the pics show it. The last pics are with the rubbery piece along the hood line taken out, but thanks for the adivce smile.gif and I just left you feedback, sorry i didnt get to it sooner-

And thanks again to all the love smile.gif... even when its not your style biggrin.gif

I am quite eager...not to mention the 5 other users I see as I type this, to see those bad boys finished with some paint!

I applaud once again the DIY!

Quick Edit Before Pizza is destroyed:

I personally do not like the vents...BUT, with what you are adding..all that "flare" best I can describe, I think it will fit nicely when done. I can see by your detail of work, that you've thought those vents out. Eager to see that as well!

haha yeah, ive been thinking (wanting) to do this for monthssss so I had plenty of time to think it through, to make them look good smile.gif and all that detail is succhhhh a pain! tongue.gif but I assume someone with more bodywork experience (molding) would be able to do it easier, I see as im going along, I coulda done it faster frown.gif but ohh well its coming together, and im trying to take my time

thanks for the support smile.gif and I cant wait for the finished product either biggrin.gif

I think it should all be done by friday smile.gif

soo i got up at 8am...again! (im not very used to waking up early tongue.gif) but spent the whole day molding and sanding, and molding and sanding and molding... yeah you get the point frown.gif

BUT! The Sideskirts and Vents are 100% "perfectly" molded (perfect as in the molding is completely flush and as smooth as can be smile.gif, the lines could have been matched up a little better flow "flow better" but for the 2nd time ever molding something, it looks amazing!)

Unfortunately I only got to take pics of about 3/4 the way through the day as when I was just finishing my ride got there (my friend is extremely impatient tongue.gif) so I didnt have time to snap any finished product pics, but either tomorrow or thurs I will get them before I start painting.

And the pics look bad, and it still looks pretty bad in person, because the way the glazing putty settles, if the spot is darker its just because it had to fill a little bit bigger hole, so it looks very spotty, but its completely smooth biggrin.gif (now)

Pics of the finished product smile.gif
Pics of when i pulled her out of the garage, so I could clean up the shop and paint. I sanded it all down more after these pics, to be ready for paint.
But I didnt realize the stupid threaded connections on the water separator, so I had to go get those, and finished taping everything and laying down paper, and hanging up plastic, cleaning the car off.... only to realize I didnt have any more quick connects for the paint gun! mad.gif !!!! AHHH I was pi**ed to say the least lol. So painting will begin tomorrow morning as soon as home depot opens smile.gif and I will be posting in that thread-

Pics still look like its not "flush" but its smoothhh, no bumps any where, spent alot of time on that lol-

well a supra is a celica fundamanetally just a souped up one
the original market name was The Toyota Super Celica, then it was shortened in to Supra biggrin.gif
so what hes doing here after think of that doesnt seem to far fetched
its looking pretty good, if its not smooth though if you spray primer that'll give you a good tell-tale hint to whats not smooth and what is and you can still work around primer. In all fairness its looking very good, hopefully all turns out well when you paint it

lol I'm actually considering naming my Celica "Baby Supra" I had named my Cobalt "Torque Monkey" because they was plenty on tap especially for a FWD, and I hadn't even gotten a chance to tune her from the stock 12psi to 22psi, stock she was only 260hp and 260tq and the tune would have put her to over 300hp and over 330tq. I figure the Celica since it's close to a supra and lol if I do the tail lights right it would be almost exactly a Baby Supra lol.

wow are those all 6gc's? those cars are crazzzzzyyy! haha love them all!
But as for not I am done with any body work frown.gif as I just finished painting the whole car (check out that thread, as I am basically finished with this one, as far as new pics, but hope people continue to read and learn) and money is very tight now lol, as I ran into alot of unforeseen costs with my last few projects, and I am going to be swapping a 3SGTE next spring (starting to save now).... but that still leaves the summer... when I make the most money anyhow lol, who knows maybe a supra rear end isnt that far smile.gif
