I bought a new EGR valve from Autozone and it has a hole on the "stem" where the stock part has a closed off stump. This is what it looks like:

What's the best way to deal with it?

the vac line thingy on the cast part? cap it if you don't use it.

I'm talking about the hole that's facing up in the small picture, in the big picture it's facing right but it's sealed/

So I guess I'll just find a bolt and washer that can fit into it and seal it up?

The nerve of those a-holes showing up on your EGR valve right?

It seems some of the cheap parts stores have dropped most celica 2.2 engine parts and now they just sell you re numbered camry parts. For the most part they work, but they might look a bit different, or in your case need slight modification.

that hole looks like either 1/8 NPT or BSP get a plug and plug it! done deal

i just did away with the whole egr system welded it up and now i don't have hot @$$ exaust gas going to my intake. i see the system as a dog throwing up and then eating it but for the states with emission test i can see leaving it on but if you don't live in one of those cheaper to remove the system and get a resister to take care of the m.i.l light on and i see it as a peformance mod less tem. in the intake and not having to reburn all that trash.

I ended up sealing it up with JB Cold Weld.

I have another noob question now though. How exactly do you unscrew the main bolt at the base of the stem, the part that connects with the pipe that goes to the manifold? It's too tight to get a wrench in there, and the pipe doesn't feel like it's flexible....
