How to Clean headers? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #73957 5 posts Started by mgnt232
So I got headers, about a month ago. and when Installing them, uninstalling, installing I touched them alot (obv.) and when I start my engine everytime after installing all the oils and crap that was on my hands smokes off the headers and has kinda stained them.
I have tried just to clean with soap and water, but it doesn't do the trick.

How exactly do you clean headers? thanks!

Just any stainless polish? I wasn't sure if it would burn, or potentially catch fire. I have some stainless cleaner for my fridge but it says flammable on it (its a spray)

Use it when your headers are cold to the touch and wait for it to dry first. Then fire up your engine to bake away any other residue.
no no, you have to wipe them down with acetone after polishing to remove residue. in reality, just get them ceramic coated. they'll always end up looking bad again.
