mystery noise, help :) - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #73730 11 posts Started by mgnt232
So about a month ago me and my friend were in an empty parking garage to take pics (city is behind the garage and blah blah). Anyway I noticed my car was making a noise, now noises are hard to explain.

But it sounded like if a belt is a little loose, but not to the loudness extent of a loose belt, just squeak squeak squeak squeak squeak (softly and semi-fast, never noticed it before the empty parking garage where noise is heard very well)

So I noticed when I press the clutch in the noise stops completely.
The noise is slightly more noticeable now, but only when there are other cars (stuck in traffic) or next to buildings if I listen very carefully.

Nothing is wrong with my car, that I can tell. New clutch about a year ago, give or take a few months. Used (70k) 7A-FE not even 6 months ago. Car runs fine, with no other noises.

Just wondering if this noise that stops with the clutch being pressed, is sign of something going bad, something bad to come, something I should worry about, or if anyone knows how to fix it.

Thanks alot in advance! And feel free to ask any questions smile.gif

lol yeah you have to take the transmission out as the bearing is attached to the spline on the tranny not to hard to do but just alot of undoing things ... might as well do a complete clutch job while your in there!!!! and realese bearing and throw out bearing are the same thing
One thing you can try before openning your tranny is to spray some wd40 kind of stuff in the area beside the clutch fork. You can open up the rubber portion there before spraying it. My friend encountered the same problem as you and it got solve by doing what I have just told you.
that would be awesome! thanks alot, as soon as it stops raining, im going out to try it smile.gif really dont have the time to take the tranni out again! hope it works, its not like affecting my driving, just want it gone smile.gif

if you are going to do that; don't use wd40 it drys out and can destroy bearings. Use a penetrating oil.
like pb blaster? I just used it, and the noise stopped! smile.gif
