Hello, I was wondering if any one knows away to raise the rev limiter? I am looking possibly to raise it to 8,000 RPM. I have the 7AFE ecu. I am currently under way with a 7age project, I need i way to raise the rpms, other wise I have to complete my Honda ecu in a Toyota. I heard something about crystals or something, but I'm not sure what that is all about.

I wouldnt mind raising the rpms on my 5fse GT myself. ~6200-6300 is nice but i wouldnt mind 7k or higher for the right price, without sacrificing stability. :-)

raising your rev limiter on the 5s wont give you any more power IMO. I can feel the car up and alive around 5k-5600rpms after that it feels dead
I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
there is absolutly no point in raising the rev limiter. peak torque is at 3200RPM everything after that is pointless....unless you have cams, but that is another story

Getting back on subject, I dont think there is any piggy back that can raise a rev limiter, if there if please show me.

Sorry but no that is not what I am talking about, I do not need a two-step rev limiter. I need a way to raise the rev limiter beyond the stock presest to around 8,000 rpm. So far what I have been thinking there is no piggyback that can do that. Does any one know about intalling a new crystal in the ecu in order to raise the ecu revlimiter? My guess that that that would mess with the stock fuel maps, but that should not be a problem with a good programable piggyback.
why use a piggyback at all? if you're building an engine to rev out to 8,000 rpm then do you really want to be hindered by the limits of the stock pcm? get a standalone. use a MS2 or EMS or PFC.

OK first I would like to know who actually has a stand alone ECU in ther personal cars. I also belive that is the rev cut for the limiter, but not be able to raise it with the Emange ( I could be mistaken on that, I dont have any first hand knowledge with it). The reason I dont want to ggo to a full standalone at this point, is because I will be working witha 7age swap, so all that will change majorally from stock is the headside ( cams,sensors, ect) with a N/A build, olny lookinh to get somewere from 180hp to 200hp and the crank. So why should I invest that much in the ECU at that point , if I am not going forced induction and looking to get outragous numbers, all I would need to ajust is the fuel because spark is fairly set mechinical, and TVIS would most likely be from a Rpm switch. Besides my other option would be to use a chipped Honda ECU, and then convet the sensors and ignition system from that point.
i'd really suggest you look into the megasquirt2 and use a edis coil setup for ignition. you can do everything you want for the same price or less than the piggy back you'd need to get and you'll never be fighting with a stock computer for control.
