Great news for everyone that has had a problem with a stripped sway bar end linkage. I happened to be at Discount Auto Parts earlier and figured I'd go ahed and ask him if he could orde some Sway bar end linkages. He says "nop, but i've got em in stock". Anyways they are only $23.99 a side! I know my Toyota wanted $50 a side and I've heard of other dealeships chaging as much as $75-100 per side. I went ahead and got them so hopefully I will be able to put them on this weekend!

i'll let you konw how it goes.

SHIRT!!! i dont even know what that is. im still in my car knowledge infancy. So what is a sway bar? Dumb question, i know. Feel free to commence flamming.

First off, a sway bar is is a link between the struts for less movement between them for a better tighter handling......the link is just the link between the sway bar and the strut assembly....

Ok my real question... where is this shop? whats the name?

i think he did a pretty good explanation of what it is and what it does so i won't touch upon that farther. i will tell you though that the linkages are NOTORIOUS for stripping and many people on here have had a problem. you almost have to take them off to adjust anything on your rear suspension so many people have run into the problem of stripping them and then having to put up with them rattling.

as for where this store is, it is a chain. very similiar to autozone or napa. i assumed it was nation but def all over the southeast. you can order online as well at

are you talking about those that come in the yellow packaging with the red bushings? if please let us know how they feel cause i was thinking about getting them..

I've already bought two sets of those at autozone for 12.99 a pair. Every car I've owned i've had to replace them. They're easy to put on but I hate taking them off,especially when they snap in half.

Wait what you mean 13 bucks a pair?? are you talking about the sway bar links? and how do they break or snap as you said? are they that cheap.....

Ok, I checked that site, and i found some that i think are it.... they dont discribe anything and the only one with a pic, it looks right, but are 50 bucks.....

Do you by chance know the modle number?

I think i'm talking about something different, i was talking about the sway bar linkage bolts and bushings set,not the sway bar itself. Sorry bout that. I will shut up now >>

hey guys... after stripping mine i asked my friends at my dealership... just use a vise grip (from behind where the rubber boot is) and an impact gun to get them right off/ tighten them up..

well you can go to sears and use that striped bolt remover it works great.. thats what i use on my brake caliper .

Get the new super street (with the AE-86 on the front) and look at page six. It says Rear camber and toe adjustment. Are those the pieces you guys need?

Pic in this thread of my replacement ones I made, kind of shows you where they go, this pic is of the rt. front taken from low on the right front side, lower end is bolted to the control arm tab, upper end is bolted to the sway bar, the OEM Toyota ones have a ball and socket with a rubber boot instead of these rod ends, the stud on the OEM ones has a hex in the end so you can hold it with an Allen wrench while loosening the nut, If the allen part strips out, then you usually have to cut them off or use the visegrips to clamp it in the rubber boot area to keep the threaded part from turning.

i thought i had replied. but anywyas it turns out that the cheap ones are for the front. they are like 2 mm to short. dealer is still only like $3 more than the ones discount auto parts sells. supposedly though, they are the same brand and toyotas has a shorter warranty.
