Help needed with wheel bearing! - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #71447 12 posts Started by Penkka
Okay, so my front rightside wheel bearing has started to make noise, and is in need of change.
I hope the noise is from the braring, not the driveshaft..

but the thing is this, at local dealership the price was 206€, so its 300$ for a bearing.
un-original part, is only 60€ = 86$..

but they couldn´t tell for sure is it a perfect fit, so does anyone have a clue of the bearing size?
Could it be 74 mm outer diameter, 38mm inner diameter and 36mm wide?

thanks, Penkka.

are gt4 and usdm gt's alike?? you might wanna go get price checks with shops for a wheel bearing change.

I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
wheel bearings for all celicas are the same... whether it's a gt4 or not. so i don't think there will be any variations in sizes when you go out and buy it.

theres a difference beetween wheelbearings, depending if you have or not abs. Have to check this, but i'm almost sure its right

make sure its the bearing. jack the car in the air and place your hands at 12 and 6 on the wheel of question. rock it back and forth. if there is play the bearing is the culprit!

i just did a bearing word of advice if you are doing it yourself. follow the procedures carefully. my friend and i pressed the bearing in and forgot to put the outer seal in. all is fixed now, but the could have been a pricey mistake.

Zoik: yeah there are different bearings on abs/non-abs models.

Garin: I´ll check it tomorrow.

And Garin, you dont happen to have the old bearing? If you could measure it?

done much bigger things, the only problem about this is finding the rightsized bearing!

yea, i'm just saying make sure you do it right the first time... not a hard project, by any means.

the bearings in celicas are unsealed. make sure you get both seals. if you trying to find another bearing to work make sure you compensate for the inner and outer seal...
