im going to my toyota dealer tomorrow to see if they have any stock tc wheels around. this might be a stupid question but could i change them with my car jack like a flat tire and just go around the whole car. Also will the wheels change the milage of the car or are they the same size or would i have to buy new tires to accommodate this problem. Ive seen people with them on the forum and searched the rides and they seem to have different tires on them.

#1, if your going to look for stock tc rims do not do not do not go to the dealership they will charge you an arm and a leg, try looking on craigslist of something, try tc wheels, celica wheels, or use the offset to search, for our cars you need a 5X100 lug pattern, type this in it should yeild results, now in the case of using just the standard screw jack just dont do it, if your going to spend this much on rims and tires at least go to harbor freight or somewhere similar and buy a jack and some stands, your probably looking at about $45 for all of that. but screw jacks suck, and make sure you have the right lug nuts and all of that. do not just go into this job all gung ho and forget a bunch of **** take your time, do it right the first time, wait untill you have everything and get the tires balanced and you probably will need an alignment with the 4 new tires. as for gas mileage it will most likely change .002552 not alot, and remember with these wheels you are adding weight to your car. hope this helps

i got tc wheels and they were a great wheel to get. i picked mine up off craigslist for $125 for the set of 4, but the tires were toast. my suggestion is just to keep looking on craigslist and be patient. the nice thing about the tc wheel is that they are a perfect fit not only for the bolt pattern, but for the hub as well. the speed on the speedo will be off slightly, but its only by a mph or two. if you really want to check it out, go to discounttiredirect.com and in their info center section there is the tire size calculator. you can input the stock size tire, then the size of tire that you are going to run and it will tell you the differences in sidewall height, overall diameter, width, and what the speedo difference will be.

as the guy above me said, the screw jack isn't the greatest jack to be doing the swap on, but if you have access to some jack stands, you could make do. still it is highly recommended that you go buy a nicer jack, as it comes in handy and the key to making jobs easier/quicker is a lot to do with the tools you have.

from my experience, i would recommend the tc wheels in a heartbeat. less headaches than aftermarket wheels, ride quality is better, and they can be cheaper if you keep fishing around for some used ones. you may want to get an alignment done, but i didn't notice a huge difference after putting them on and i'm running an even larger sized tire (225/45zr17). no weird pulls to the side or weird tire wear. i may have got lucky, but whatever. good luck on your search.

You can use your jack but it will be a big pain, another thing wrong with TC Wheels is they offset makes a sucked in look (mainly at the back) but its nothing bad, stock wheels have the sucked in look. My speedo on the GPS is pretty much the same so its nothing noticeable.

I changed mine with the jack stand, no problem. Just a bit time consuming to jack up each corner individually.

im prolly gonna do the same thing as you because i dont really have a place to do it other than my driveway and i think dobbs tire and auto will charge an arm and a leg for it.

but ill be on the lookout for some tc wheels on craigslist. I might search the scion forums for some too. Also how much did your wheels approximately cost SwissFerdi if you dont mind me asking?

they're from a celica (typed in celica lugnuts on google images). the ones i used are from a 7th gen celica since i have some wheels from a 7th gen. they work with the tc wheels, but aren't as pretty since they are open at the ends. you pretty much want to get that kind sice they fit in the lug holes and the collar part holds the wheel to the hub. i noticed a huge difference from the generic tapered type that i had on the car when i bought it. less shimmy and a shake in the steering wheel with the tc wheels and toyota lug nuts. i had some crappy american racing wheels without hub centric rings and you could say my steering wheel shook so much it was like a hand massager....lol. the only vibration i get now is from the driver side cv axle i need to replace since i killed it at the last rallyx.

I bought mine for 280, including tires. Potenza RE92 in front with 50-60% tread left, Primewell PZ-900 (cheap Chinese tire) with...0% tread left in the back. And I just mounted them myself...it takes no effort. I'm using the stock lugs as well.

i don't see why not using the spare jack, it is used for changing tires, not just flat tires. You would only concern me if you are trying to jack up all four sides with one shot on that little scissor jack. its just more labor.

fyi.. you can bring your rims to discounttire and they will swapped your wheels for free.. just swapping your rims are free..
